Hi. New to this, any advise on what video editing software to get, buy or free ones. What are you guys using?

I recently got Magix Movie Edit Pro. It learned about it from Tom Tech Time. It is working out for me. The important feature is the load proxy for the source. This has made editing possible with the large 4K files.

I use Adobe's Pemiere Pro which took a deal of learning via video tutorials.

Before that I was using Cyberlink's Power Director which is an easy app to use.

http://www.appgeeker.com (AppGeeker video editor) try that and see how it goes, I have been using it for years, it is simple and has everything you need.

Davinci by blackmagic is both free and excellent.

     Brian has it best.  DaVinci Resolve is out now with a new edition of free editing software, 12.5.  12 was so good, I plan to download 12.5 tomorrow.

Looks like there is no decisive answer.  What's the learning curve with these programs?

     The DaVinci manual is over 1000 pages, but, man what you can do with it.  It is not for those who want the quick and easy.  You will be able to do your best work with a free software.  But, it is going to take time to learn and that is good.
