Dear DJI colleagues,
DJI indicates in the FAQ #5 and FAQ #7 of the Zenmuse Z3 product page that it features an adjustable focus point and auto-focus can be used on any area in the display, by tapping on the display to select the area of focus.

Unlike indicating the in the Specifications of the X3 for Inspire 1 (fixed focus at infinity) and the X3 for Osmo (fixed focus at 3.5m), DJI does not give any indication in the Specifications of the Zenmuse Z3 product page on the focusing ranges of this zoom lens, i.e. (Wide) from ?m to infinity, (Tele) from ?m to infinity.

Would DJI advise the focusing ranges of the Zenmuse Z3 in both the wide end and the tele end, please?

Henry

These are the only lens specs that we have for the Z3 at this time:

This should give you a general idea of the zoom lens' capabilities.

Thank you, Jamie.

The first batch will soon be received by purchaser. It will be great if Folks here can share the Z3's performance here.

User Manual of Zenmuse Z3 is now available for downloading. I'd  read through it but could not find any single word about focus except a box on the DJI Go App screen in the manual with a discription "4. Focus".

Can the focus of Z3 be adjustable?

Dear Paladin,

In my original post (#1) I mentioned that I noted FAQ#5 and #7 already.

I have been seriously considering the Z3 but the lack of further information about focusing from DJI has made me wonder whether focus of the Z3 can be adjusted or not. If indeed it can be adjusted, why such is not mentioned in the user manual?

It has a blue outlined small box that is the focal point. It adjusts to focus on whatever object is in that area or you can tap an object anywhere on screen for it to lock onto as a focal point. When using zoom it continuously focuses in on that object automatically. I'm very impressed with how much closer it brings objects. Clear and smooth action. Still have to play with it some more, but so far I'm loving it.

Tom David posted a review and test footage on Youtube.

The performance of it seems promising - smooth zooming, and low distortion. The video shows how the focusing works in action - simple and responsive. It appears to me that there is no manual focus though.

Yes. I was surprised with the case it came with. Not a pelican, but much much better than the x3 case. Haven't tried the x3 filters, but I presume they will. Looks to be same size.

Why are the filters not working? Tom's review above said they are the same size.

Thanks

my bad again lol, I initially just compared the outer diameter of both and the z is a little bigger. Just now I unscrewed and swapped out. The threads the same, just the trim ring on z is bigger.

The Z3 has some on and off issues. We've been using ours for a while now and if you want to do still photos you can get it to work okay. Video is almost impossible to film due to lag and video breakup.
