Hello

I am newbie here and it is my first post.

Had anyone tried Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6 with X5?

The weight of the lens is 0.34 lb(152g).
If zoom out can cause problem, then I may be willing to use just 9mm for wide angle shot.
I had also considered 8mm fisheyelens but that is with more distortion.

I appreciate your input on this.

thanks in advance.

Thomas

Unfortunately we cannot recommend lenses that are not provided in the Spec page of the Inspire 1 Pro/Raw manual. You can try to use the lens and try to use the following table to get an idea of what it would entail to balance the gimbal:

Thanks for your kind reply.

I am more interested in still photography than video (7:3).

The weight of the lens appears to be marginal.

If I try, the x5 camera will recognize the lens or not?

I can use it just like 9 mm single lens.

As long as it can fit onto the camera, you should be fine.

Hate to say this, but the 9-18mm is a no go, unless you want to put lots of counter weight on your gimbal.

General conclusion, 12mm olympus or fisheye is the widest you will get on X5/X5R.

Any zoom lens with retractable optics will challenge sensitive gimbal mechanism since shifting center of gravity affects the weight balance. Secondly, zoom lenses in general are of substandard image quality when compared with fixed ones. Bottom line: you'll be fine in most situations with respected, thoroughly tested and super-sharp Oly 12mm. Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye is another fine lens, if you're after such effect ...

I really appreciate your input.

I had better use Phantom4 for wider angle. which I already have it.
