If the right LED is solid red after powering on, it seems that the communication between the battery and the handle is abnormal.
Please try to wipe the copper sheet inside the battery compartment with 95% alcohol and cotton swab. Let the alcohol air dry. If it does not work, wipe the battery contact with alcohol and cotton swab.
Hi Mindy, I've tried that along with using a different battery. It still fails to update the firmware. Do you think you can send me the original beta firmware to downgrade it back to when I had first purchased it? I'd really like to get it to work again. If you'd like I can send you a picture of the update log .txt file if that helps? I've tried to use every Firmware update available on the DJI Osmo website. Nothing has worked. I obviously didn't use the RAW or PRO firmware updates since I have the Original Osmo. To get it to even turn on I have to keep doing a hard reset by holding down the trigger, record and power button. Other wise it turn on and 2 seconds later it shuts off on its own. It wont even stay on unless I hard reset it every time. Each time I try to update the firmware it gets stuck at 99% then the right light is solid red and shuts off. I've tried to download/update firmware using my mobile phone/wifi as well as download the Firmware update, putting the .bin file on to my SD card and updating it that way. I know the battery, gimbal and SD card all work. It's just not updating and because it won't update I am unable to use the device. If I try to take video after a hard reset, it wont let me stop recording and also the gimbal does NOT move. I've exhausted my options based on the DJI website and from everything I've read on this forum. It's not fair that I had to pay $800 for the Osmo, and then send it back from repair and DJI possibly charge me another couple hundred for a known issue that they haven't released to fix for.

I'm having the same problem with my Osmo, and I'm on the recommended firmware update. I have cleaned the contacts on the battery, and attempted to re-flash the firmware again just in case.

I'm sorry there is no beta firmware anymore, the latest version is v1.10.02.60, if the LED becomes solid red after updating , that means the update failed.
Did you try to force the firmware to update?
Copy the latest firmware to the root directory of SD card (format the card before copying), before powering on, keep pressing the Trigger and Record button simultaneously, then pull the Power Switch down for about 5 second until the LED blinks red and green. The OSMO will detect the firmware and begin updating. The update is complete when the LED displays solid green.
Please let me know if this method works.

Have you cleaned the PIN inside of battery compartment? If the problem persists, the Osmo and battery will both need to be sent in.
I have tried cleaning the battery pins and contacts gently with a cotton swab. I will attempt to do so today -gently- with a pencil eraser to polish up the contacts and see if I still have an issue.

Hi Mindy, I've tried this method on several occasions as well. Still no luck. I dont know what else I can do? Any other ideas that come to mind? I know the Osmo is still in working condition. Only problem is the Firmware wont update therefore I cant use the joystick to move the gimbal and so forth. I've been trying to do everything possible to make it work with no luck. What else can I possibly do? If I send it in to DJI, what will they do differently that will fix the issue that I am unable to do at home? Please let me know what other ideas you have. The Osmo has gone down in price now, I purchased it for $800 when it came out and I read that another user had to pay nearly $300 for the same issue being repaired. I dont think thats fair considering how much I paid for it when it came out and how much it is worth now ($300-$400). Please let me know if there is any other ideas that may come to mind.

In that case, I would suggest to send in the Osmo for thorough evaluation to see if there is hardware malfunction. The quotation will be generated after evaluation. I have no idea how much it may cost, very sorry about it, please contact our support to send in: http://www.dji.com/support

How to repair it? Do i have to send it to dji? I still have warranty though, i purchased it on April 8th, 2017.
If i have to send it, how am i gonna be able to do that?

It seems like it a handle issue not the x3.
I tried to upgrade the osmo with the last firmware using dji go witg the reset mode and also with sd process but it failed all the time.
A friend lend me his osmo so I made some tests.
I upgrade my friend osmo without any problem using dji go and also sd method.
I removed the upgraded x3 from the handle and replace it with my broken one: it works with the old firmware without any issue. When I connect it to dji go a notification appears asking me to upgrade my unit so I upgraded my x3 successfully with the two methods.
I put back my x3 in my handle it turns off after a few seconds with the solid red led. I connect it with the reset mode to the app a notification appears asking me to upgrade but when I checked the firmware version on the setup I already have the last firmware!! I replace my x3 with my friends one the same issue appears. So I tried to upgrade my osmo but it failed all the time with the two methods.
I used for this test 3 batteries and noticed that with the broken handle when I connect it with the reset mode to the dji go all the batteries are marked red with 0% of charge and there is no information about the batteries in the setup battery info all the lines are blank.
If there is a way to upgrade only the handle it's probably resolve this issue but I can't find how to do it.
I contacted dji by mail they ask me to send the osmo by airplane to them and when they will receive it they will email to told me if it will be covered by the warranty or must I pay the reparation costs.
I think that it's not professional DJI know this issue and know also that is a manufacturing problem not a customer cause and must resolve this issue for free to all osmo owners and not to oblige the customer to pay for the post costs (sending and returning) and also for the reparation costs.
I will wait a feedback from DJI to resolve this matter
