I had 3 x 12 minute flights over the weekend at Byron Bay (Australia) and created this:

I'm pretty impressed with the footage, especially when not compressed via Vimeo. I did not shoot in 4k as I wanted 50 frames per second. There are a few little jellyfish wobbles here and there, which I have only just noticed after watching many times editing.

I have done a bit of this in the past with 450 and 550 Flamewheels and Phantom. The Inspire set-up with rectilinear lens, more power and lightbridge is so much better and easier.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The Inspire 1 was great for this. Very smooth to fly. I am very happy with it. The footage was all shot with auto camera settings, no post production at all - and just simple cuts in Final Cut Pro.  The video made it onto the front page of a surf site called swell net and had 10,000 views yesterday. Go inspire 1!

Cowardy custard me would have been too nervous to fly over the sea after the problems a few pilots have reported.  Must be braver!  Great flying and great video.

Did anyone give you grief about filming the, surfing?  I live in a surf town and want to put some footage together, but don't want any angry groms chasing me down.

What were your camera settings??

I was pretty careful not to hover right above people. I hovered out the back and turn when someone caught a wave I flew in for the shot. I was worried about annoying people but the surfers I spoke too were excited and wanted to get on camera.

Camera setting were .mov 1080 50fps auto exposure etc.
