I had my P3p on in my house accessing the SD card transferring photos and video to my iPad Air 2
When my friend phoned my iPhone 5s and we could both hear a sort of low clicking noise on our phones, so he hung up and called me back he uses an iPhone as well, but we still heard that noise, so I turned the Phsntom off and it went away..
Do cell phones work of the 2.4 GHz band as well, if so maybe this could be another cause of Flyaways and the Phantom doing weird things?

They are on a totally different frequency and it's possible your phone picked up the interference.
BUT, this is not any cause of loss of aircraft.

Maybe the sound from the VPS?

I would lean towards the VPS as well.
