i got this information from somewhere, but i believe this is the reason why some of the lakes in canada are this way.

The striking, saturated tur·quoise color is caused by "rock flour" - or glacial silt - that is suspended in the water and reflects green and blue wavelengths of sunlight.

i hope that answers that.
