DJI updated the no fly zone for the DC area and just as I suspected I am one mile within the zone. The field I normally fly in is also within the zone.

Sucks but I guess it could have been worse. Will need to utilize Google Map to find new areas to fly.  I have already come across a few areas not that far that appear promising however now I will need to drive.

Thanks. I'm going to contact them and sign up. I also notice there is a Washington DC Drone meetup group I'm going to join...

Interesting to note they  have a meetup smack in the center of the no-fly zone however the flying appears to be limited indoors which I assume is okay?

  • National Building Museum
401 F St NW, Washington, DC (map)
  • Family event with FREE Admission!
Drones have been in the news quite a bit but few people really know how they are designed, built, and operate. Join the International Spy Museum, The National Building Museum, and the DC Area Drone User Group to discover the secrets of drones. Local drone makers will demonstrate their designs and show families the inner workings of their drones as well as their special spy skills. At 1:00 PM, a spy mission challenge will take place in which drone makers will guide their drones through a series of secret spy surveillance missions to discover which is the stealthiest.

DC Area Drone User Group members: Fly your drone in the National Building Museum? How cool is that? If you'd like to show off drones and/or participate in the drone spy challenge, indicate your interest in the comments section below!
