I have a P3A, thats been amazig, and, until now, had an amzing camera, too. Today i found out that when the gimbal moves up and down at all, the screen gets coovered in randomly placed grey rectangles. I only noticed this today, and am not near the hdd i store my videos and photos on, so i cant review old footage for this issue. and if it was there, it wasnt this bad. the second issue i also noticed only today and that is with the tilt on the gimbal. after moving left or right, the tilt slowly tilts towards that direction, and then jumps back when i slow to a halt, this is definitely new, and will affect my footage if not fixed.
.
I have this Video i recorded in my friends dining room showing the issue. It shows the affect when manually moving the gimbal, or when tilting the aircraft in a way that would require the gimbal to point up or down. No matter whats causing the gimble to move, it still has grey rectangles that momentarily cover the screen when the gimbal moves up or down. The image is fine otherwise. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3RsVb_BcoK3TEd3bjZhNFN5dFE/view?usp=sharing
.
This next video shows the next thing i was talking about with the tilt. Its dark because i only discovered it tonight. you may have to strain your eyes, but you can see the horizon. it was easier for me to see because i can brighten the picture up more in 'photo mode'. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3RsVb_BcoK3MXBjTFh0N0dPZUE/view?usp=sharing
.
I also tried taking some long exposure images. Im nt in too interesting of an area, but heres on of them: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3RsVb_BcoK3ZVlhd0cwRy1lTmc/view?usp=sharing :3
.
Thanks

I looked at those clips and could not see anything wrong, certainly no grey rectangles. The night footage is quite noisy, but that is to be expected, as the camera is not a low light camera, it needs plenty of light to work well.

I already stated that these are issues I'm having, and there's no arguing it. You can see both problems in their respective video. For the first problem I have a video that shows it a bit better but it shows, me, my family, and my address in the video and it was gayer top capture that quick video before I went out. And you can definitely see it, too. Wait until about halfway through when I pick it up and start tilting the aircraft.especially when the prop guards make it in to the video, the issue becomes very apparent.
.
And the second one was more obvious for me because I can lower the shutter speed even further on the live feed, so I saw the issue very well. I did a long inspection of the video, and see that the video demonstrates both problems: the tilting and the jumping. Just find the horizon (you may need to strain your eyes a bit),and watch closely. The jumping is more apparent than the titling in the dark video, but it's there.I'll thereof in the morning.

Hello Bilzc10  I looked at your first two videos. In the second one I can see the "tilt" problem when you change direction on your quadcopter. There is a setting that allows you to change the speed of response on the quadcopter and hence gimble. Try and damp the speed down.

Your first video "grey rectangles" I looked twice carefully at full screen and I could not see anything. Maybe the detail is lost in uploading to YouTube I can't comment. However I can't see anything. Could it be a shadow cast on the lens?

OK, looking only at the frames with the prop guards appearing, I can see some sort of artifact on the right hand side, very brief, only a frame or two. I have no idea what it is, but I doubt you would see it shooting aerial video outside and well exposed.

As for the tilt, now I see what you mean, it looks like the effect you get when the gimbal mode is set to follow rather than FPV.

Today I'll get some video outside. It's actually more noticeable, I just don't have many editing tools here, and the video had some stuff I don't want to show.
And the second video was not shot(<- if you saw what that previously said; it was a typo. I meant shot D: ) in fpv, but give it annoys me that it looks like it. It was very possible I accidentally switched into it since it's set to c1, but I checked in the menus and it was set to follow.

I accidentally deleted the last post. I don't know how that happens. But it said that these issues are still present. And they are.

So I did everything calibration possible and the second issue seems to be gone, but the 1st, the strange rectangular artifacts, are still there. It's more apparent in low light, but it's still there and it's a problem. Do any other flyers have this issue? Mods, can you respond with something usefull? I have a job coming up filming a casino, and I'd like my camera in the best shape possible. Thanks.

the fisrt link is the video, and it works just fine for me, except its not the best example. here is a clip from the first time i noticed these artifacts, look at the building, since the rectangles are grey, its where they stand out the most: https://drive.google.com/file/d/ ... 2s/view?usp=sharing
Here is a screenshot with some outlined, just in case it wasnt obvious enough in the video

Ok, I see now.
If it's like that all the time then you may want to send the aircraft in for evaluation.
I'm guessing it's the same with photos and also with different SD cards?

ive only tried with one sd card, actually, and it isnt stock. Its a Transcend Premium 32GB Class 10 U1 microSDHC. I upgraded for one with a larger capacity. I only have 3 sd cards with the same speed as the stock sd card, the one im using, the stock (which is currently using an unsupported format on it), and another Transcend Premium. Ill try the other transcend card now.

What would you think could cause something like that?  Normally, from my experience in photography, artifacts caused by slow storage mediums usually show up as noise, not gray rectangles. I dont work for dji, but i cant imagine what could cause it, maybe a sensor problem? but its only when the gimbal tilts, not when the aircraft is moving. 0.o
also it doesnt show up in photos, as far as i know its only when the gimbal tilts.

And if i do send it in, how long would it be until i get it back? Do i send it in, wait for the repairs to finish and receive the same aircraft, or is it more like what Verizon or Dell do, where they send you a replacement, then you have like 10 days to return the original item?

Try the other cards and see if it still does it. When you say it only does it when the gimbal tilts, that I have no idea and possibly a sensor issue.
Can you hold it in your hand powered up and recording and move the aircraft in various positions then look at the video. If with the stock card and your others it still does it then I'd say send it in for evaluation.

ok, ill probably have a video up in half an hour to an hour or so after my tests are done. So how are these evaluations done? Do i get a replacement first and send in my current drone, or d i send this drone in and get sent a new one after the evaluation is complete? and if this is more like the second scenario, how long can i expect to not have my drone? And should i remove the prop guard mounts?

You would get an RMA and then we send you a prepaid shipping label since your in the US and it would get repaired and sent back.
They will not send out a replacement while yours is on it's way here.
Turn around time is 1-2 weeks from when it's been checked in.

Repair time is 1-2 weeks. From your location (East Coast) You'd probably have it back in 3 weeks and worse case a month.

well i recorded some videos, but they are a bad example, because i don't know if id be able to blame the artifacts present on the camera with such moody lighting, and an ISO of 1600. Ill still provide a link: https://drive.google.com/folderv ... elJ3eXc&usp=sharing
I used 2 cards in these tests, one is a different Transcend Premium, same kind of SD, but just a different physical card. The Transcend Premium used has the ExFat file format on it (the Lexar card and my normal card use FAT32, which, as you know, is the format the ohantom seems to like best, but it seems to write to ExFat just fine, but syays it would like to format the card). The rest of the videos were filmed on the stock Lexar card provided with the drone. I didn't get any videos with the card i normally use, because i forgot to bring it with me. I also noticed that the specs on the 2 types of cards are different, The Transcend Premium is a class 10 UHD 1 card with a 300x write speed, while the lexar card that came with the drone is a class 10 UHD 1 card that claims to have a write speed of 635x. I doubt that would make a difference though, since the minimum speed requirement for a UHD 1 card is 10MB/s which is equal to 80Mb/s, which is more than enough to handle my P3A's 40 Mb/s write speeds.

of course they do. These are the highest burst speeds achieved in a lab environment, using an OS capable of the highest write speeds, probably made specifically for writing as fast as possible to an SD card

I'm still convinced that they are both more than fast enough to handle the tiny bit rate of the P3A

They probably are fast enough, but some Class 10 cards are not quite fast enough, and some bog down when there are a lot of files on the card. But in any event, I seriously doubt the card has anthing to do with your camera issues. It either writes or does not write, it does not write in 'degrees of failure'. My guess is that the video card above the gimbal is faulty.

So am I going to have to send it in? And could I have them take a look at 2 things? Post some screenshots of your battery and also a screenshot of the advanced battery page, it shows any battery errors.
As far as prop guard mounts, I don't work in customer service so you would need to ask them when you call Monday.
