I bought my Inspire 1 when it first came out.  It was so new in fact, that I had to prepay and wait for delivery.  Am I therefore version 1?  I see a lot of references to version 2.0 on the net and am confused.  Thanks.

I can say with reasonable certainty that you have Version 1 .  Do you have the smaller camera  gimbal for the x3 ?  If so it is the V1 if you have the larger X5 gimbal that came out with V2 then you would have the version 2 .
( this is how I remeber it anyway )

I have the smaller camera white in color.  The reason I made this original post is because I see the smaller white in color cameras on eBay labeled as V2.  That confused me a little.  If you have anything else to offer, please do, but I think you have answered my question.  Thanks.

The cameras I believe are the same, just the Gimbal is more robust and the motors are a bit larger in the V2.

The V2 unit has the tuned propulsion, landing gear and vibration board to easily handle the X5 camera. Unless you buy a Inspire Pro or Raw, the Inspire 1 V2 would come with the same X3 camera.

I like the looks of the V2 dampening mechanism.  Can the the V1 be upgraded at home or at all to have the same mechanism?

Yes, you can upgrade to the new vibration absorbing board yourself. It is a simple installation.

There are many favorable reports that it offers much better vibration absorbtion and less 'jello' in video. I can't speak on the differences, as I have never had the original one, just the V2.0 with the improvred version.

Sometimes it is hard to find something on DJI's site.
Only tool you will need is a 1.5mm allen wrench.
