Phantom 4 goes crazy

I have a Phantom 4 with the latest firmware, and I use Litchi on iOS (latest version). Sometimes when I after a flight have “parked” the Phantom in the air, it after a while starts to slowly move in very, very small circles. In the beginning it’s nearly noticeable, but the circles then start to increase in diameter and the speed builds up too. After a short while it looks really dangerous, and I can abort this by switching from P to A and then back to P again. The Phantom has been locked to at least around 15 satellites every time this has happened, so the GPS position should be very stable. I have also recalibrated the compass, but the problem still occurs every now and then. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with Phantom 4, or maybe with Litchi? Or could the gimbal maybe be the problem? (camera forcing the Phantom to turn).

Yes, I am also experiencing this. I just did a full IMU/Vision/Gimbal calibration and calibrated the compass in an open grassy field and it's still a problem. About to send logs to DJI to see if they know what's happening.

I might help others understand if you upload a log file showing the behavior.

No. Everything original with a new(ish) Phantom.

Hello shark10006 , please do the IMU calibration and compass calibration again. If the problem still there please record a video and post it here.

No, I have not added any third party devices to my Phantom, just using Litchi and my original Phantom 4. Thanks for the tip, I have now calibrated the IMU and re-calibrated the compass, but because of very strong winds now, and because I from tomorrow will be away for a while, I will not be able to test my Phantom now after the IMU calibration. Will be back later with more information if this problem still exists!

Still same problem! I have done the IMU calibration as well as the compass and gimbal calibration, but it still starts to go in circles that starts growing bigger and bigger, when "parked" in the air. I also noticed that it seems like the camera does not point straight forward, it seems to be pointed slightly away from the straight forward direction! Because of this it is also almost impossible to steer the Phantom based on the video on the iPad. Something is definitely wrong with this very new Phantom 4! Can I send it for a warranty repair? (Where to send in Europe?)

You say you use Litchi and the problem happens when hovering. Does the same thing happen when running DJI Go App' ?

Are you doing the compass calibration away from any metal. Nothing in your pockets (phone, keys) and putting the RC/tablet on the ground several feet away from you when doing it?
And use only the GO app and test again.

I am thinking the P4 is stuck in a POI Mode after the mission! Maybe it's a new Hidden Mode!!

Did you hear "Mission Complete"?

Do you see this using DJI GO?

I think the compass is bad and I would not keep a new unit if it has compass issues.

And yes, if you are doing good compass calibrations and it still goes in circles while using the GO app then you need to send it in. Also you didn't say if it was like this from day one including the camera being slightly panned to the side.
If it was good when new and now it's doing that, have you had any accidents or hard landings?
You can also look at the sensors page, the compass reading should be 1,000-2,000 when it's sitting on the ground with no metal around it.
It is still under warranty and maybe best just to send it in if you cannot remedy it yourself.
