Where did u hear a parachute will be required for a coa to fly over people in the us???

Unless there is a better way to mitigate a catastrophic loss of propulsion or control and reduce the force of impact with human flesh.  There was also a picture of the CNN news drone and it had a ballistic parachute launch tube sticking up with the parachute cord in plain sight.  I spoke to the maker of a parachute system I bought for my Inspire who mentioned it was required by the French aviation authority for flight over people.  From what Ive seen about the waiver process they require a risk annalysis, mitigation procedures and crew management descriptions for all the waiver types that are available.

No I haven't seen them. That said I can't see how they would work since the landing gear would be in the "up" position if it hit the water. I suppose it would allow you to retrieve your craft from the water but it would most likely be a brick from that point on so I might as well buy another one rather than risk fixing a craft that had water damage.

So far I see it's a No vote interesting.Do any of you you have insurance?

i have my inspire fully insured for $8500 and it costs $800 a year.
Covers everything from fly aways, lost in the water, crashes, theft etc.
