Greetings, my replacement P3P FINALLY arrived and I have switched my 4K camera over to it.  now I am looking at my old P3P, which still works well (I crashed it, reshelled it, replaced broken antenna, basically panicked and ordered a replacement before I realized the old one is probably just fine) and thinking of using it for low level FPV goggle fun flying.  My question:  since I do not need a 4K camera for such flying, will a P3 standard camera (quite a bit cheaper) work on a P3P?  Thanks in advance.

If you really wanted to go that route a P3 Advance camera would be the next compatible camera for that body.

Well yeah, because it IS the camera for the P3P.  DJI actually lists 2 different 4K cameras with the only distinction being listed as "Professional" and a price difference of $50.
Phantom 3 Professional - 4K Gimbal Camera

So I have a P3A.... could I put a 4K camera on that?  Also I have thought about someday getting a NDVI camera would that work on my P3A?

The gimbal for the Phantom 3 4k is different than the gimbal for the Phantom 3 Professional (which is also 4K). The Phantom 3 Advanced gimbal and the Phantom 3 Professional gimbal are the same.

Actually the Adv/Pro gimbals are different.  The Advance doesn't have a fan, the Professional does because it has a better image processing chip inside.  It presumably works harder/hotter than the Advanced due to moving more data per second.  The cameras are essentially the same though, I believe, apart from the HD/4K decal on the side.

I was under the impression this discussion was between the Phantom 3 4K (essentially a standard with 4k camera) and the P3P. And I based my statement above on the picture from post #2, the gimbals between the Phantom 3 4k and the P3P are different (based on connection number, type and fan).

That's correct, but I was pointing out the second part of the statement: "The Phantom 3 Advanced gimbal and the Phantom 3 Professional gimbal are the same."  You are comparing the advanced and pro there, I was just setting the record straight.  I guess you meant to say something about the 4k standard and pro gimbals are the same.  Or not...

I think the answer is yes, but you need to swap both the camera and gimbal as a whole assembly.

Any one has tried upgrading a P3 advanced with a 4k Camera and gimble?

I have not actually done it.  I have two P3P's.  The camera and gimbal needed replacement on the one, and I was reaching out to see if I could put a Phantom 3 Advanced Gimbal and Camera on my Phantom 3 Professional.  What I found out is that they are compatible but you need to update the firmware.  In my case I would have to install the P3A camera and gimbal, and then update the firmware with the P3A firmware found on the DJI website.
