Have ordered myself an extra battery, now I know that the advance and pro version you update the firmware on the battery, remote, and quadcopter seperately. Do I have to do anything with a new battery before using it, or will dji go tell me if anything needs doing to it before flight once I've plugged in and switched on?

Hello Colnemac, you are correct, DJI GO APP will tell you whether it needs doing or not. Please check the status after you start it.

Should be able to use straight away, firmware updates are optional.

And DJI recommends the aircraft being on the latest firmware but you are not required.
The battery updates, if there is one I would do and then you have to update the aircraft to get the battery update.

ok, currently up to date as only had it a month and updated it before i flew it.
