I have a couple of questions regarding the OSMO Mobile Timelapse & Motion Timlapse features, most important is #3.

1) What is the lowest interval between pictures?  I saw in the manual that its either 2s, 5s or 10s.  Can the user changes this to 1s?  The iOS on the iPhone allow 1s.

2) Is the Motion Timelapse done by pictures (intervals) or by video?  I ask this because switching between photos and videos on the iPhone 6s Plus changes the FOV.

3) When you set up the Motion Timelapse it looks like you take a picture of the start and end of the sequence.  Is this beause the software uses those pictures to align the sequence?  OR is the start and end determined by the positioning of the motors on the gimbal?

I ask this because I was curious about creating 2 different types of hyperlapses:
- The first is where your start point (A) is at the beginning of a path and the end point (B) is a focal point about 45 degrees up but about 100 yards away.  So you start the sequence at A and then walk 100 yards where the gimbal should be now pointed up 45 degrees.  I am trying to bypass having to pan the gimbal up manually over the course of 100yards.
- The second is where your start point (A) is one point in the sky and end point (B) is another point in the sky.  Most of the picture will be changed since clouds will be moving and changing.

Thanks,
Dale

1.  lowest is .5s so yes you can do 1s
2.  Im not sure if its video or pictures honestly.  FWIW Motion timelapse is under the video section, not the stills, but that doesnt mean much.  Oddly the FOV for video and pictures in the DJI GO app is exactly the same.  And I did sn A/B comparison vs the FOV in the apple camera app and the field of view is the same as taking pictures in the camera app.  So even when taking video in the DJI GO app you get the wider FOV of taking pictures in the apple app.  Not sure how this is possible, but im seeing it with my own eyes... lol.
3.  Its by the position of the gimbal.  Tested this by setting up the moves in one location and doing a time lapse in another location

Fantastic thank you for your help!!

I can't wait to start doing hyper lapses based off #3.  This should help immensely in the post processing in After Effects for stabilizing.

For timelapse since it's taking a photo at your preset intervals I don't think 4k would make a difference so I don't think it would be added. BUT, I'm not a video guy so I can't say for sure.

in 4K you can zoom twice without loosing your 1080p quality......
when dji go can pruduce 4K/30 fps with the better phones,it must be possible to deliver footage at a much lower fps ......

I don't know how Osmo Mobile Timelapse export function works because I'm still waiting for mine.

Can you explain how's the whole process works? I'm thinking these teo points:

1. If the DJI go app tells the camera to take pictures at the maximum quality and than export the footage in 1080p, than it is better to add the 4K output too.
2. If the DJI go app tells the camera to take pictures in 1080p than I understand what you said, but I strongly prefer the first point.

Thanks for any reply.

Regarding your 2) question, just so you know - the FOV changes when you switch to video mode because of the (extra) software stabilization (so it crops the FOV a little and that gives it a possibility to move the actual image up/down/left/right to "stabilize" it.
I guess you can disable it (you can enable/disable this on the Galaxy S7 for example) but I have no experience with the iPhone 6s Plus.

I picked up the OM and used it some.  What I am trying to figure out now is what the magic combination of speed and duration is for the effect I want. I've watched other hyperlapse videos that were not done with the Osmo, but the moving of camera motion was slower and smoother than what I get which is still crazy fast.

I have also experimented with just leaving the GO app off and use the stability of the gimbal along with regular recording on my phone.  Post edit you can zip up the speed if that's what you want.

This was a simple set it and forget it test.  Fun stuff!

I'm new to the forums and thus unable to make a new post yet.

I have a Galaxy S7 which has FHD/1080p motion timelapse. My friend has an iPhone 7+ and can film motion timelapses in 4K.

I told the DJI online support this, and they told me he was lying to me and that it isn't possible! He sent over the raw files to me and I could see they were listed as 4K resolution. I also found other cases online of people posting 4K motion timelapses using their iphones 6S/7/SE (and + equivalents). They kept saying 'that is impossible - 1080p is the maximum any motion timelapse can record in.

What gives? Do DJI not know their own product? Is the iPhone app filming in 1080p but outputting/upscaling the file to 4k?

Any ideas?

Can you confirm, my friend has an iphone 7+ and his motion timelapse was output in 4K. I have an S7 edge and my motion timelapse was output in 1080p.

when I asked about this, i was told it was impossible for his iphone 7+ to have created the 4K timelapse, but he sent me the file and sure as day it confirms it is 4K.

a) can you confirm iphone now can create 4K timelapses and
b) any ideas when this may come to android, samsung phones or otherwise?

Hi Ken the photo attached shows the file he recorded (timelapse of NYC) filmed using DJI Go app and video pulled from his phone - you can see the resolution... can you explain how this would be? Is it really 4K or is the phone upscaling a 1080p file to 4K?

The best way to achieve 4K Hyperlapse using Osmo/Osmo+ is simply recording a 4k/30fps video and then speed it up 500-1000 times in post production using Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere. Easy !!

Pardon my comment and forum "wrong section "conduct, not typically a forum participator. But I haven't seen anywhere about a request for, or potential firmware up date for:

"Timed Motion Pan Using Video without Lapse". Essentially Motion Timelapse without the timelapse. Just a start point, and an end point. How long you want the video to last. Then bam! This would be much smoother, would be able to reproduce it. It seems the osmo mobile would easily have the software for this feature. Just an app update? Any comments help if this is possible in some way. No I do not want to 180 or 330 photo, or have to use my thumb and move it slow. I want video resolution with timed video panning? Start here. End here. 5 or 10 or X  second video. 4k or 1080 doesn't matter. Iphone 7+

Thanks guys.
