Hello, guys!Several days ago I bought my first drone - Phantom 3. So happy to have it:-)
Basically, I'm doing my first baby steps now.
I would love to fly Phantom with VR glasses.
Please recommend App.

Adam

Litchi $25. Does pretty much the same things as the Go app, plus the VR you asked about. And it also does autonomous flight, within it's waypoint mode.

Hello,
Thank you very much your advise.
I've tried to google yesterday and found another App Dream Flights, $42. Does it worth money they ask? For me it is hard to justify since I'm new pilot.

I would venture to say that most of us here on the forum who uses another flying app other than DJI GO use Litchi as their second (or even 1st) choice.

Well, I have both App on my phone. Litchi is really cool, start flying with this App. When you will master your pilot skills you may try Dream Flights. You can do Pitch & Roll & Throttle  only by tilting and turning your body and your head in VR glasses. +They just added new flying mode - glider flight simulation.

I would definitely first get 100% comfortable with your aircraft in all flight situations before you try FPV flying with goggles.
In a large open field, practice ATTI mode flying with decent winds and when can do that with no issues at all then I'd start the FPV flying.

FPV Goggles is not a route that DJI want to/intend to enter that marketplace.

Indeed.  The Phantom is not to fly for performance.  It's a camera platform and does an excellent job of it. Litchi makes it even better.

The only reason I want to use FPV with my phantom is for better video recording, glare free, and because it's cool of course, it's just bring you into the action, not mean you're gonna race your phantom, at least for me.

DJI just recently partnered with Epson to use their quite expensive Moverio BT-300 glasses with their drones. Some already use the BT-200 glasses with DJI drones but without official DJI support. The BT-300 glasses and DJI app are supposed to be available late 2016 or early 2017.

BTW Dream Flights offers a bundle deal VR glasses + App. I was looking for new VR glasses at eBay and came across this listing  (http://www.ebay.com/itm/26262046 ... d=p3984.m1555.l2649).

FPV gives illusion of real flight. The App (DJI Go, Litchi, Dream Flights) enhances this feeling, at least for me.

there is a user who is registered on this forum who also has a youtube channel -nevermindyourown who is testing long range flights with his p4 using fpv goggles with the dji go app.

Being honest i have not asked him about the setup he uses or how he connects the fpv goggles to the rc while using the dji go app.

but from what i have seen from his videos he is quite successful doing this.

Agreed.  That's why I use them too.  Using them ensures no light/glare inhibits your ability to see.  And personally, because of this I feel like it makes for a much safer flying session.  It goes without saying, safety is the #1 most important thing.

You can use goggles with the DJI GO app if you get the HDMI module and then several goggles will work. We have Headplay and they work very good.

Looks like the same as the HooToo. I bought it because it was cheap and give it a try. To tell you the truth, I did not see any great advantage other than glare issues. Since the DJI is really a smooth flyer and mostly a camera platform, stable flight is its forte. Moving your head around does not make for smooth video and camera movements.

I just built my first 250 racing drone. For that purpose, goggles are a must.

Agree, but what if you fly your drone in California or Nevada where so many sunny days? The sunlight will give your hard time. I love to observe territory around me, so ability to control drone just by moving head or body is very valuable.

I think DJI-Ken gave the best advice. If you are a new pilot, get used to flying your phantom first. Using goggles is really a lot of fun but watching what your bird does and how it responds to your inputs is something you should actually see and get use to before flying FPV..in my opinion of course

Thank you for the advise. You are absolutely right. I did not realize that fly drone is not as easy as it looks. There are so many unexpected difficulties about which I even did not think before. So, Yes, I'll fly for several more weeks and then come back to FPV.

Went out last night with newly purchase VR BOX 2.0. Running the Litchi app.
It was very cool indeed. I've only had the drone for about 2 weeks. But i was pretty happy to fly with the headset on. Totally awesome experience.
Just held the remote in forward position and looked around at where i wanted to go. I feel like i could get much smoother turns and pans with the headset on as it's more natural.

I'd recommend giving it a go, out in an open space to start with. Litchi app plus VR BOX works great .

That's great to hear, I'm excited to try it out myself, probably should cost around 50$+ including the Litchi app, so it's defiantly affordable, since I'm wearing glasses I wonder if it will work for me ? Also, is there any porpuse getting the BT remte with it ?

HI

Yes when you lost signal you can either wait til the RTH kicks in,or turn around and fly back down the green line on the map to regain signal. And with the low battery the dji go app will tell you when its time to return as it works out how much battery you need to get back.
