Are the controllers for P4 and P3 interchangeable?  I have both a P4 and a P3.  The P3 has an expensive extender on it that works great, but I prefer to fly my P4.  I know I have to re-link the RCs, but is this ok to do?

I do between mine, I have a extender on one and I switch them back and forth from my P3A and P4

Hello，Tripper Dog，to avoid some compatibility problems which may cause damage, it's recommended to use corresponding remote controller for P4.

I do this on my P4 remote which has a HDMI module when I want to use the module with the P3.  Relink required when switching.

This is exactly what I was hoping to do...use the extender I have on my P3 with my P4.  DJI Natalia says this can cause damage.  Is this accurate, or just a general recommendation to avoid the small possiblity of people not knowing what they are doing?

I dont work for DJI, but I have swapped my controllers back and forth a few times and have had 0 issues, I have a modded P3 RC and my normal P4 RC and I use them on both, if u look up my drone porn thread u can see them both in the pic... if they can sell u a replacement rc and its fine, and u have the ability to link RC's, or just the fact that they both ( p3 and p4 ) use the same firmware, and are GL300 I dont kno why or how they could do damage or have issues.

If they are the exact same RC, what is the problem? Not sure I understand.  I would appreciate some type of answer that is not so generic.  I have an expensive extender on my P3 RC that I would like to use on my P4 rather than pay for another one.

It's feasible to use your P3P/P3A RC with your P4, though keep in mind that the symbols on the P3 RC will convert to the P4 setting when paired together. It's not fully recommended, since the changes in button control can potentially cause confusion if you're not used to it. As far as compatibility, as Natalia suggested, there is always a chance that stand alone P3 or P4 RC firmware can come out that can cause issues when interchanged with other products. I'm not saying that there will be one coming out that could do this, but it is a hypothetical possibility.

Thanks for the reply.  I just want to use the expensive long range antenna I purchased for my P3, that's all...Seems a waste to not use it.  And, it does significant extend the range...Not so much in terms of pure distance, but more importantly, around trees, homes and other objects.  

When I drop my P4 behind some large tree or other object (even when close) I often temporarily lose transmission.  Not so with my extender on my P3 when paired with the P4, or the P3 RC paired with the P3.

Yes, you can. They are the same controller. I wouldn't recommend it, but you can.
