DJI has their own wireless (OcuSync) goggles coming out soon.
And they have head tracking, look up and down and the camera tilts, pan your head left and right and the Mavic veers off that way.

It would be easy to make a similar operator platform for the Mavic controller and a nice iPad PRO.

When Mavics start shipping out then you will see long range tests.
Max height is the same as the other models (500m) and yes you can still turn off the front LED's from the Advanced tab of the MC settings or you can program C1 or C2 to do it.

Looks fantastic Ken.  You'll never please all the people all the time, but portabilty (ie taking up an entire hand luggage allowance on planes) was the biggest issue with the P3 & P4s.  This transforms the drone into a genuine travel camera.  
Shame that it's US$999 and UK£999, but our prices do include 20% sales tax, unlike the US prices I guess.

Also someone was asking what the top speed is out of Sports Mode. Looking at that vid it's 10m/s, which is about 22mph. I suspect that that's the limit so that the proximity sensors can do their job. I think I read that they can't function past 24mph..?

Correct, in Sports Mode you wouldn't have obstacle avoidance.
It's the same as the P4.

Yes, it uses the same GO app.
DJI has already urged Samsung to fix the issue, I don't have a S7 so I don't know if it's fixed or not.
If your S7 cannot run the GO app then it must not be fixed yet.

It does run the app and I've used it a few time but on my last flight it suddenly rebooted the device without warning. I don't trust the app/phone now with my Phantom, let alone a $1000 Mavic.

Yes, that's what the issue was. Either the app wouldn't start or it would constantly reboot.
I'm sorry about that, I hope Samsung get's the issue resolved soon.

The 5000 meters is the max altitude above sea level and is related to how high the Mavic can generate suitable lift. The 500 meter elevation is above ground level (or more accurately launch level) and this is an artificial limitation imposed by the firmware.

The DJI GO app on the iPad works fine on the Mavic, someone will have to design a iPad/controller holder to make it easier. I flew for a couple of years with an iPhone 6+ and can do so again, at least until someone designs a tablet/controller holder to allow the use of the ipad.

The IQ is fine, these guys just didnt know the Mavic has a manual focus option where you need to touch the area on the screen where you want the focus to default too. They did not have it on auto-focus. This was explained in detail in another video.

The ONLY app on my phone that causes it to reboot is the DJI app. DJI needs to accept some responsibility for this.

An official announcement from DJI about the issue, what steps they have done so far and what, if any, response they have from Samsung would go a long way to helping me believe that anyone at the company cares.

Being told of some vague urging doesn't really clarify anything.

DJI is a tiny company compared to Samsung, tiny enough that, happily, we can talk to you via a forum. I'm not aware of any official Samsung forum. I've just sent an email to their CS but I'm not expecting much, just a "We are unable to provide support for 3rd party apps" waffle.

'DJI Ken' on a forum saying 'we've urged Samsung' is nice but we need something more official, a proper announcement - and why is there no warning on the app store, telling people the app is not compatible with the S7? It's not as though you don't know about this issue, is it?

Among other things this is a safety issue.

From a marketing point of view, do you really want the first real Youtube reviews to be full of people saying "I bought a Mavic but it caused my phone to reboot and then...."?

Every crashed Mavic out there, using an S7 or not, is going to be saying "Wasn't my fault, the Mavic rebooted my phone.."

A proper, official, investigation and announcement, please.

There's already a iPad Mini holder that one of our DJI guys 3d printed.

Again, as I've said before. This is a Samsung issue and DJI has nothing to do with it and cannot provide a fix. This has to be done through Samsung.
And the official statement of DJI is

[The incompatibility issue is caused by the Samsung S7 mobile system. DJI has urged Samsung to solve this problem a.s.a.p..]

And that is cut and pasted from my email message from 3 weeks ago  from headquarters. What more do you want ?
Our R&D department has already informed Samsung about the issue.

Honestly, we have no idea, I'm guessing there's already been several hundred thousand preorders. You may see your sometime in November.
BUT, that's only my guess. Use the chat feature in the online store to more accurate info.

As far as I know it's still on track. But as there's probably been several hundred thousand orders already, I don't know when everyone will get theirs.
That would be a question that the online stores people could better answer.
