Hey Ken.  I also have the LGv10 and would like to clarify if it will work.  Is there anyway you can confirm this information?   I don't want to buy it if im not 100% certain the phone will work.  Any help is appreciated.

Haven't tried yet, BUT the RC holder max length is 160mm and the Mini is 200mm so I'm going to say not it won't work.
One of our employees already figured out a solution and 3d printed a holder and attached the Inspire device holder to it.

No, at least a 5s is needed.
Here is the recommended device list from DJI for the P4, the Mavic list is not out yet but it's probably close to the same.

I'm sure their will be several companies offering solutions.

It's about time the nvidia shield made the supported devices list lol. Had nothing but problems with a nexus 7 2nd gen, my shield works flawlessly.

I think with the phone and remote controller together the effect of the whole thing will be similar to normal remote in size ,just won't have big iPad sticking up,think it will also be good for watching and keeping aircraft in line of site, I think you learn a lot more about hand eye coordination when studying the flight of the aircraft.

That's correct, you do not need the RC to fly the Mavic.

So I could more than likely spend a bit of time and put together something that would hold your mavic controller and an i pad pro if so would the I pad pro and connection communicate with the mavic?

I have a phantom 4 that I use an ipad with and your dji app.

Thanks for your reply.  I have the same problem as the other person in this thread.  My phone is .01mm thicker than the max and this info unfortunately doesn't confirm that it will or wont work.  At $1000, I cant spend that much without knowing that it will fit my phone.  Any chance I can get further clarification?  Can we email the engineers and pose the question?

Yes, it's recommended to use the included short Lightning cable but I'm sure if you got a longer cable and made a mount you would be just fine.

I don't know anyone who has your phone so I cannot say for sure.
The Mavic spec is thickness Supported:6.5-8.5mm
Max length: 160mm

And your phone specs say
159.6 x 79.3 x 8.6 mm)

I no one here has that phone so I cannot say for sure. Your best bet would be to wait until Apple has them and go try it there.

The specs all mention max length of phone. What about minimum length?

Flying strictly on wi-fi would be fine for indoor flights, or for some selfies outside, but the controller will be needed for any serious flight. I for one will be looking for a iPad mini solution as I lie a bigger screen than my iPhone 6+. I have been using an Air 2 with my P3 so I will have to sell that and get another mini. (don't you love the way a new toy makes you re-evaluate others) I am in no hurry and can wait for a little more elegant solution than the one I have seen for the mini to come along.

No.  The "holder" simply clamps into the standard bracket.  There is no modification to the controller.

The RC phone holder is made for phones without a case, unless it's one of those suer slim ones.

I really need to know the answer to this question, because for me it's the deciding factor on wether or not I'll get the mavic or the karma. Can you use the controller WITHOUT your phone. Just by itself.

Absolutely, but you won't be able to see anything that the camera on the drone sees.

My phone is in my pocket or hand or on my desk 24/7, and a phone is a very personal choice. You live, eat, work, sleep and even poop with your phone.

In contrast the drone lasts less than half an hour with a normal battery and most people will use it less than twice a week. Why should someone change the phone or their phone case or their service provider or their operating system or anything else like that, just to suit the drone?

The drone should adapt to the person's "personal device" in their pocket, not the other way around.

Maybe your right, but with so many different phone cases wouldn't if be very difficult to cater for all of them, I also have a phone with a case that won't fit, I'm thinking getting a dedicated phone or iPod just to use for the Mavic, usually when I go out flying I will fly for a couple of hours and I'm not to sure what the drain on my phone will be, I'll wait and see.

I almost certainly will be buying, just waiting for initial niggles are resolved, such as the S7 thing, the descending because it can't see the ground thing, perhaps the option of altitude mode etc.

That also includes waiting for some accessories, such as a better gimbal lock, some landing gear extenders, tablet holder and such.

Basically I don't want to rush in and be one of DJI's test pilots ;)

But yeah, either a built-in screen like Yuneec or Karma, or a more universal app/remote would be good.
