I have a strange problem with my P3S.
I have three batteries.
If I use battery 1 the P3S gives on the about page firmware version 1.6.8.
If I use battery 2 the P3S gives on the about page Firmware version 1.2.40+.
If I use battery 3 the P3S gives on the about page Firmware version 1.2.40+.

How do I see which firmware uses the Drone?

With all three batteries DJI GO requires a firmware update to 1.6.8

This is my third Drone now, and i got in return from repair center.
I've done NO updates at all.
The PS3 is flying normally, no problems with signals and video or distance.
Just straight out of the box.........
The question is? Which firmware uses the drone...

Hello sir, the latest one should be 1.6.8. It seems that you need upgrade all batteries as well. After you put in the second and third battery into aircraft, please check "aircraft status" page, if it asks you to upgrade, please click it and finish upgrading.
After that, you could also delete APP and re-install APP, the latest APP for android is 2.9.1.

I know I need to update, but I dare not after two horror stories.
I do not send the drone in for the 3rd time for repair.

All I wanna know is:

What part of the hardware / software determines which Firmware version is the Drone.

1. Battery
2. Controller
3. DJI GO App
4. Drone

It is a combination of Battery, Controller, Drone?
Or particular component which is on the highest Firmware, determined the final score?

I have at this moment no problems, and I want to keep it that way.

To clarify, DJI GO APP is the program installed on your mobile device, which is different from drone's firmware. The firmware of drone includes aircraft's firmware and remote's firmware.
While aircraft firmware is consist of many different modules, such as battery, camera, main controller, etc.
Aircraft upgrading does not mean you need upgrade all modules each time, which if it's needed, you will get the info from APP, please follow up the tips to upgrade, it will be fine.

Unfortunately I do not update to 1.6.8 because I do not want a faulty drone again.
I wait until there is finally a solution to the problems with 1.6.8.
If there ever comes a solution I doubt, because DJI is too busy with updating the APP with functions that nobody is waiting for. also the new Mavic MUST be promoted, so there is no time to make a good firmware for the Phantom 3S.  

Across the world people complain about the bad update, but release a new firmware is too much trouble.

I'm going to sell my DJI drone.  I'm going to buy a Go-Pro Karma drone.
Sorry for my negativity, but the problems take too long now, this is just disrespectful to your customers.
