Another question, if I may. On the P3 platform, if you tap the screen it will automatically adjust the exposure so that the area you touched is properly exposed, how does that work in the Mavic, since you now tap to focus, where is before we used tap to expose ? Thanks.

I don't think we'll see a P5. I think the Phantom line is done. Assuming sales for the Mavic are brisk, then I think we'll see DJI concentrate on just smaller drones for the consumer market, and larger Inspire drones for the heavy lifting and for the professional market. Anyone agree?

It is the same way, there will be a metering tap too.
One press for focus and another for metering (exposure)

I do not doubt that the quality is second to none, I own lots of dji stuff and it's crazy quality.,

My issue is this. £1299 for this drone combo deal when you can get a p4 for that, and it's 999 dollars us and in the U.K. It's £999 for just drone. Rapped up the bum comes to mind.

With the new rules set to hit drones in the U.K. I'll be taking a miss this time - just hope it comes to nothing!.

When however the p5 comes out that'll be bought.

I'd like some feedback on the Mavic though as dji still haven't fixed issues with the p4 so if there's issues with this we are all screwed as their customer service is CRAP.

I see now, I'm sorry where you live you have to pay fees. In the US when you order from DJI online you pay the online price and that's it, shipping and taxes are included.
And customer service has gotten much better in time.

I recently bought a P3p . I was preparing to place an order for Mavic soon. SO what should I do? wouldnt you reccommend me to buy one.? I had loved the videos of this little thing. I am sad.

The ANO 2016 is in effect now and drones have been covered.

I own a p3p which I like but wanted a second drone so I just ordered the Mavic combo. I work construction in Southern California and I'm all over working different sites. The size of this Mavic will allow me to take it along for some footage of jobs and surrounding areas. Looking forward to this one

That's the exact reason to get the Mavic, you can take it anywhere and never miss a great shot or video.

Huh? Battery power will affect how fast the motors spin and the picture quality??. This appears total rubbish to me. It's a cracking drone, battery life will be fine. My P3Pro remote will last me about 10 batteries before I charge it - and that's over a couple of days.
It's also tiring listening to people repeatedly say it's got crap video footage. Was the same when the P4 came out versus the P3Pro saying the latter was crap. If you notice the difference between them shot in identical conditions I'd be surprised. If you have issues with the quality then the P4 isn't the right drone for you either as both are consumer drones and you clearly have very high expectations - buy an inspire then with a high end camera or buy an s1000 and add your own.

Bottom line, Mavic is a serious piece of kit for a relatively cheap price and has blown the Karma (its only real competitor) out of the water. Would love someone from Best Buy to post how many cancelled pre orders they've had for the Karma since the Mavic was released.

To the OP. Judging from everything in your post. It appears you know very little in the RC world and video/photo. First major being you complained about 4k video that was down sampled to lower bitrate 1080p. >.>

I think he was initially judging the video based on a few early reviewers who didn't realize you have to actually focus the camera.    Those videos looked soft until people started putting out corrected samples.

For me and the price point it is at. No one comes close and I am not being a DJI fanboy here by no means. It fills a niche that no one is in. Guess I am just tired of people comparing it to the P4 when it is not even in that same market in what it was built for.

It's the price point and more importantly to me is the size. It's a take "everywhere it with you" size and it will probably get more used by most people who will have a Phantom and the Mavic for that reason alone.
It's pretty impressive and when you get the chance to hold one in your hands then it will truly amaze you.

I'm a bit confused.   It seems like it's definitely in the same market at the P4.   The camera is very very close -- far closer then the initial videos indicated.   The feature set is equal or greater.   I've seen multiple videos with wind tests (one linked here with air blower tests) and the Mavic seems to handle high winds even better than the P4.   

It seems pretty much like a P4 with longer range and more portable.    Am I missing something the P4 has that puts it in a different market?

But your talking common sense. Making judgments based on available factual information and comparing products. This is not the process in which a lot of people buy things. Shiny commercials and get your brand in as many places a possible is key. Back in the day contour came up with everything before gopro, they just invested in R&D more than marketing.

The P4 will last longer in windy conditions. That light weight can make it work harder to maintain location. What puts it in its own category thou is the weight and portability. You could basically carry this thing in a man purse while a P4 or inspire might look kinda off. Actually a man purse in general might be sorta off lol

i was about to order the P4 but hold back when i saw the video for a new DJI drone. i was curious on the new drone hence waited. i finally opted for the Mavic due the reason that is smaller and easier to carry around. i will used it for taking video and picture when hiking. smaller drone to carry make things easier especially when you have other stuff to carry. P4 is still a good drone, no doubt on it. i think one would chooses depending on what you are using for. i would love to take the P4 for hiking but its just to bulky. thats my thought anywhere.
