I'm creating this thread so we can discuss phone compatibility and issues with both the Mavic, controller and the DJI Go App.
I have a Nexus 6P running the latest version of Android which is Android 7.0 (Nougat). Currently there is no OS / Phone information for the Mavic. Hopefully both the Go Apps and the Mavic will support my phone. The Google Nexus 6P and the new Google Pixel phones are both pretty large. Looking at the specs for the controller, both should fit these phones.

I received this via e-mail from DJI the other day.
"Requires iOS 8.0 or later and the Android 4.1.2 or later will be Okay."

oh man i guess im going to need to update my phone and shell out some money D:

I have Samsung S7 Edge and I keep reading that some users are experiencing issues with the DJI Go App with the same phone. Constant phone restarts when using the App. I ordered my Mavic Pro but I don't want to shell out $$$ for another phone.

Hopefully I won't have issues with the app using my phone.

The phone holder will hold up to a length of 160mm.
As far as minimum requirements to make the app work, I would think you would need an android with at least 2 GB of RAM but we need to wait and see when specs are released for the minimum requirements.

That is a issue with Samsung and not DJI, DJI has urged Samsung to figure out a fix for it.

Would you be able to use the iPod touch with the A8 chip???

I have Nexus 6p and it will fit the controller with no issues. You need to buy a small USB-C cable. So buy the cable now

Also app update is not out.. As per DJI it will be out soon

The Mavic comes with a Lightning and micro USB cable so no need to purchase one.
And the GO app has already added the Mavic so it's available on IOS but not Android yet, but you cannot get into the camera page until you connect to a Mavic for the first time.

I was told by DJI pre sales support that you had to use the phone. I was wonderimg though if they were referring to full capability with features needed with the phone. If you think about it the device is really a display and interface and the phone portion is for external communications. You just wouldn't be able to do things like streaming, zone unlock and so on. In theory I would think you could use a device that is basically the same if the OS is correct. IN THEORY.

I have a Nexus 6P and have no use for the cables it comes with. Why doesn't DJI send me the cable I require for free after spending $999 or more instead of charging me?

I use a S7 is it compatible????

He already said before you get your hands on Mavic, it will be so relax

My main worry is the quality of the app. Active track may crash, Device over heat etc etc

Your LG G3 is 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm so I'm not sure.
Best thing would be to wait until they are in the Apple store sometime in Nov and go try it out.

I love my CATs60 but I fear it may be too beastly to fit

Yes it is and it fits just fine in the holder.

8.5 is the max listed. But if yours is just a hair over that it may work. You would have to wait until they are available in store and go try it out.

Not at the moment, no.

I have also a Nexus 6P and since yesterday dji go app has the Mavic Pro.
I don't it will an issue fitting the Nexus on the Mavics RC because the Nexus has almost the same dimension with the iPhone 6/6s/7 plus and many people using the iPhone even with a case!!!

I know the iPhone 7 plus is a perfect phone to use. My question is will it fit with the factory leather case on it or do you have to keep taking it off to place it into the remote. The case is very thin but the listed measurements are very close to the iPhone 7 plus.

The specs on the DJI website for the Mavic do state the controller is compatible with USB C, but web sellers do not note that the USB C connector as included. DJI what is the final word? Thanks..

I have ordered both a DJI Mavic and a Google Pixel phone.
The specs for Pixel say it's 8.6mm thick in the top. But 0.1mm is hair-thin, so hopefully it will work in the Mavic controller anyway :-)

I hope it will to. I know the rubber in the holder has some give, hopefully it's enough for hold your phone.

So I know its not out yet, but I want to get ready for my Mavic Pro. So do we know which is going to be the best picture, speed, gb or Android or Iphone? Want to look for deals now cause if its an IPhone it will only be used for the Mavic Pro

On this topic then - will the Mavic RC USB port output video (like the P4 one does) so that I do not have to put the phone into the Mavic RC clips/arms/cradle?  Important for me to know as I'd want the phone to be sitting in my Blitzwolf VR goggles most of the time and not in the RC....

Yes, it works the same way as the P4. You can use your standard USB cable and plug into the bottom USB port of the RC.

I just got an email regarding the type C cable. I bought the pro package, and later on added the type c cable. DJI was kind enough to email me to let me know that the pro package comes with the type c cable and that I could cancel my order!

No problem at all, you just cannot use both USB ports at the same time. Only one will give you video feed at a time.

Can u please explain why this is a samsung issue? Isnt it DJI that build their own apps according to samsungs specifications? Isnt it up to the app designers to write the proper code and iron out the bugs NOT samsung or am.i missing something??

I do not know how apps work, but the R&D department notified Samsung and urged them to fix that issue. I'm sure Samsung is working on it you can talk to them to get more information
