There's a growing chance that I'll be able to travel and fly around Iceland, this upcoming December. Every now and then when I travel with my drone around the US I see a message prompt in the DJI App indicating that I'll have to use cellular data to upload my maps. I assume this is necessary should I want to plot my course (which I rarely use).

I have no intention of using data overseas. Can I turn on "airplane" mode and still fly abroad? I don't see why not. Sometimes if I'm flying low and around trees in the US I do turn Airplane mode on. It's not the best practice, but it prevents disruptive notifications and allows me to concentrate.
