I recently bought the Olympus M.ED 12mm f/2.0 lens for my X5 gimbal/camera. I use the X5 on Osmo and Inspire 1. The lens doesn't perform as it should. In a certain angle, about 45 degrees up or down (Facing upward on OSMO, and downward on Ispire 1) the gimbal makes an awfull noise and vibrates. Not nice. On the default DJI lens the gimbal works fine, there is no sound or vibration.

On multiple pages on the DJI's website it's said that this lens doesn't need an balancing ring. What is the problem then? Is my X5 deffective? I have tried the Olympus lens with the DJI lenses balancing ring and also with different filters without any help. Weighting 8, 10 and 18 grams. I contacted customer service and they said I need a balancing ring, but they couldn't point me where to get one. Does anyone have same problems with the Olympus 12mm lens? Help me please.

The Olympus 12mm uses the same BR-046-10 balancing as the stock 15mm lens. Does the gimbal still seem unbalanced?

Yes, I have the very same problem, but in a slightly different angle, about 45deg. Thanks for the thread link. I hope I get my X5 replaced or fixed aswell, it's less than 6 months old.

I'have tried the lens with and without the BR-046-10 and the noise doesn't go away. I also have a 8 gram filter that doesn't do any better job.

Could you happen to provide a small video to see the extent of the noise?

Here the X5 Olympus 12mm (with the BR-046-10 balance ring) is attached to a OSMO. Same grinding noise takes place in Inspire aswell (on the downward direction because the X5 is mounted in the opposite way).

Based on that video, it does look like a motor issue. We tried testing the same set up and did not incur that noise. I would recommend sending the X5 in for a repair service at your earliest convenience.
