Doesn't SPORT MODE go into ATTI mode? There is a Sport Mode switch on the Mavic's controller...

From what I read in the "unofficial" manual...  It DOES have an ATTI mode.  It's just not user selectable.  In the event there is no GPS or optical sensor data it will default to ATTI.  There is currently no switch for it on the controller.  But this is something that COULD be added to the app at any time if DJI decides to allow it.

if flying through low cloud for a dramatic scene effect how much tolerance do DJI drones have to moist air? ! Do they build with seals etc

No it does not. There is no manual ATTI mode on the Mavic.

If you were to ever fly in moisture it would activate the water indicator and then you would void your warranty.

No problem, I'd just hate for someone who flies in a little moisture and it's causes no issues at all then there happens to be a warranty issue from something unrelated and it's not covered.
I know that if you say there's been some water damage then DJI won't even look at the aircraft. You's have to send it to somewhere else for repair.

That's because they probably calibrated the compass with all that metal around.

I've had an incidence with the Inspire when I had to land immediately due to metal interference. There was even a warning flashing up in the Go App telling me this (to the effect of signal interference) and to land immediately. It's not just the compass that can be affected, but the signal itself. Even some types of rock can cause magnetic interference.

The Mavic has dual redundancy, but if all systems have errors this needs to have a manual override. If you are flying commercially, then the ability to switch directly to ATTI mode as and when you need to is one of the first safety procedures to initiate in most peoples operation manuals.

So while GPS signal loss is one thing, if there are other errors that could cause erratic flying, we need this ability. I just do not see why it would be such a big deal to add the function.

i have a lot of fun flying atti , the quad is faster and you feel free in the air ,

is there any firmware upgrade coming to allow atti mode ?

i will try it , but sport mode is like flying in GPS but with more tilt right ?

or it switches to atti  with more tilt ?

i can't imagine how amazing could be to fly sport mode atty mode :O!!!

or maybe also remove altitude hold in some cases ,  well altitude hold helps a lot  but is a lot of fun to fly without it ,  but thats why i have other cheapest drones to play with

All I know is that several of the video reviews said that the Mavic in sport mode is the most responsive drone DJI has ever built.

I do NOT have a Mavic yet.  I have one on order and I am patently waiting like the rest...

I have watched a lot of video reviews  on YouTube...  I have not heard one remark that the folding arms posed any issues whatsoever.  All I hear is that it's built very well.

The arms will only fold if you hit something as it takes some force to lock/unlock them.

yea i been working a lot , I'm been really busy , but I'm back jeje

mmm yea my p3  is ok I'm happy with it , thanks for your help again ,

but I'm thinking to sell my p3 pro  and buy a Mavic because i hike a lot it according to the videos i saw its little bit more powerful than the p3 and almost the same as the p4

both p3 and p4 are kind of tough and strong  in the air , I'm just wondering if I'm going to be able to do everything i want with the mavic

my worry is just song winds , with my p3 I'm able to fly over mountains and volcanoes , am i going to be able to do the same thing with the mavic ?

did you test it already , its true that it have move range than the p4 , also the altitude still 500 meters ?

ill appreciate your answer ,

The Mavic does fine in the wind and you should be able to complete your mission.
It is not more powerful than the P4, actually at full speed the Mavic is a few MPH slower (look at the specs)

Yes, the technology has changed and the new version of Lightbridge is now called Lightbridge and it does have longer range which I know you'll love.
The max altitude is still 500m, just like your Phantom.

No I wish, I also preordered.
We have some at work and I was able to fly and test it out.
You will love everything about it.
Since you are into Long Range, look into an aftermarket iPad Mini holder as flying as far as you do would be better on a larger screen instead of your phone.

yea i know ,



i found some , like this one ,  i love the range , and also portability i can't imagine how hard is to climb a mountain with phantom 3  with all the accessories , i will love that little thing that i can put in my hiking bag

The market will soon be flooded with devices like that. The Mavic was meant for you, I know the hilly terrain you live in and the long range you like to fly.
It's your perfect aircraft.
At least you'll still have a warranty since there will will be no need to mod the RC like you did the last one

yea there is no point of use a DBS antenna with this quad , 7 km is insane range for that little quad ,
I'm trying to sell my quad but no one whats the p3 now mmm

i think I'm going to be a little bit patient

You still have a great aircraft, eventually you will have a Mavic.

It will be problem with Polish law becouse if mavic will your first drone and if you want to fly legal into the city and earn some money, you must pass an exam. But you can pass exam only on ATTI mode some its not good information.

Ken, am I right in assuming the Mavic GPS has some sort of glitch protection? I haven't used DJI products before, just 3DR stuff.

Also I don't see any mention of the KP Index (geomagnetic storm index) here. Considering the Mavic relies heavily on GPS I think it's something users should be aware of, unless they're confident to fly without GPS. There's a simple free app you can download. If the index is 5 or over you can't rely on GPS.

+1 on being able to revert to attitude mode on command. Maybe a suggestion for a future app update? Assign it to a C button, 5D, or just on-screen. Something....
