I am studying for the UAV certification.  I have not used my drone much in 2016 due to the regulations.  I want to start doing the aerials again. Has the software been upgraded where I can do points of interest?
I see how cheap my drone is selling for used.  I have a hard case and 4 batteries and don't seem selling being a great recoup for us.  Is it worth keeping?  My major reasons for changing would be 1) easier to fly. 2) easier to film. 3) obvious better results

Also, what software should I be flying it with? Has that changed?

If you want to use a Phantom commercially, you should be upgrading to a P3 Advanced or Pro or the P4 or possibly the new Mavic.
They use Lightbridge or OcuSynch rather than wifi for control and it's 10x better than wifi, making for much easier and better control.
The newer models will all do POI flying too.
For the later Phantom models you'll also need to download the DJI Go app.

Thanks for the fast reply.

So the new ones use a different app than what i was using?

Do compas calibrations still work the same way?

I think I will part with my kit.  Its a shame because I never even used 3 of the batteries :/

Thanks for the fast reply.

Yes, the newer models use a different app with a lot more functionality.
Compass calibration is the same but there's no need to do that all the time.
I haven't done mine for months.
The P3 (Adv and Pro) and P4 are a huge technological leap past the P2 series.
You'll be amazed.
