I'm looking to get some Liability Insurance for some wedding and real estate footage.  Does anyone have a recommendation and how much would you estimate that this would cost?

Jason, if you are using your Phantom commercially then you should have business insurance.
Hobby insurance like the AMA will not cover you for commercial use.

My regular business policy holder sent me an email with this link. (http://www.aerialpak.com/faq.jsp)
I haven't really looked in to it yet. One of their requirements is that you are using the equipment within the FAA Guidelines, which is, I assume, not for commercial use without the proper certifications. So I am not sure how this is all interpreted and dealt with.

But have a look!

Thank you Tony.  I actually spoke with a representative from Aerialpak who quoted me $1,500 a year.  Yes, it's a lot, but I have a Wedding Videographer who won't hire me unless i have this.  Makes sense.   I will feel covered and can charge a higher price based on me having insurance coverage.

You can get insurance for a specific period. I just finished a shoot with a production company and they picked up insurance for the two day shoot.

Agree with this post, these guys are the real leaders in the insurance world for UAV. almost all of the studios that were recently awarded their COA's were covered through Transport Risk. Last I checked, it was about $1000/yr/per/UAV for 1 million dollars in coverage

check with your local insurance agent as coverage will change from state to state as well as country.

If you are doing it as a business you will need two. a business one as well as a policy for the flying camera.... So depending where you are it can get costly.
As my office is on a former Navy base, as well as in CA both together are a little over $3000 dollars.

AND I am doing this just for fun.... as you can not make officially any money with this here in the USA.

AH one more thing you might need a special certificate to fly in some areas ! specially when it is for events!

Hey Murphy knows if you have it you will never need it.... better then the other way around.
