Has anybody seen the video Casey Neistat put out a couple of days ago where he said he was flying his DJI Mavic and for no apparent reason he lost signal and was never able to recover the drone? Was there any technical explanation or any response from DJI? I have already ordered a Mavic Pro and that video freaked me out.

There are are 2 threads all about it, though we can only speculate about exactly what happened.

It could be he is an idiot with no respect because every thing is given to him to destroy? I don't think I would blame the mavic with Casey at the helm.

Think DJI need to invent a drone that can take Casey somewhere nobody can find him or ever have to listen to him again, think myself it was a stupid publicity stunt.

I quite enjoy the feller's joie de vivre, but can't condone his actions.

I've seen the video and read lots of comment about this guy.  I don't know him at all but from what followers says, he always lost or crashes his drones.  Not updates, not IMU, no compass calibration.  Not surprising it happened.  End of the discussion from my point of vue.  He's not in the game, he's just a showman.

Yea, because "no one" has ever lost a drone.
Blame him, there's no way it could of been the Mavic.. /sarcasm

I sure wish these things wouldn't wander off regardless of who the pilot was. I haven't followed this instance though.

For the record, he answered the concern some of his 5 million scribers put to him about his cameras/equipment. Because he makes a living (very good living) using camera equipment, he considers them tools of his trade. And if he worried too much about damaging the equipment, he wouldn't be as confident in capturing a lot of the amazing footage that he gets.

Malartic2014:"Not updates, not IMU, no compass calibration."

Really??
It would be pretty boring footage if he included those types of things in his daily vlogs....

The one guy did the compass dance and sang all the single ladies while doing it. It was rather amusing as he was really dancing. while singing, and calibrating.

That guy did the calibration on video because he was comparing the speed of setting up the Mavic vs the P4. For Casey it makes no sense for him to do that stuff on film, he's not an in depth product reviewer.

Totally agree, he works very hard at making his vlogs and the results are well edited. To set up the shots he uses can't be easy: he's very good at his craft.

Yeah... I notice that too, and was curious why she was flying the P4, or why she would cart that bulky thing all the way to Hawaii. But considering how much she went on and on about dropping her camera in the pool (because she did not have the sense to wrap the attached strap around her wrist when holding her $3000 camera over the water), she would certainly have made a big deal about losing the Mavic, as it is not as easily replaced.

No, she actually lost her Mavic Pro...  She said she was being irresponsible and flew it in "extreme wind conditions."

In Caseys newest video on the folding notebook drone he admits he destroyed his last drone.  Perhaps if one wanted recommendations for a drone fighting league or drone gladiatorial combat that guy would be a good demonstrator.  If the drone could survive him it must be good.  The bit where he flies over kids is especially enlightening.{:4_157:}

for real another one that loses her drone what the hell that is why they should not give these drones for free what part of the video she says it... Jon Olson he seems a bit irresponsible also flying his drone he was the guy who did the presentation with ijustine  if you see him how he treats the mavic pro.
