Hello everyone!!  A relatively new Phantom 2 Vision + owner and pilot here.  As part of my research into what works and how best to fly/protect my unit, I decided to give a set of carbon fiber blades a tryout last weekend.  These are the blades that come separate from the tightening nuts, and I quickly discovered that you need to take care in installing these blades to ensure that the blade alignment matches the correct rotation for each rotor set.  I hand tightened the nuts and tried a couple of flights.  I have to say that the performance of the Phantom with these blades was less than desirable...it quickly developed a death wobble in flight and I had extreme difficulty keeping the craft under control.  The best moment of the test occured when the Phantom threw off one of the nuts and I was subject to the now detatched blade leaving the unit and spinning over my head!!

I don't think that I will be using these blades again, and will just stick with the standard white blades that come with the Phantom.  I am curious if anyone else out there has had some experience with these carbon blades?  Luckily, the ensuing crashes during my little test did not rough up my unit too badly!

Thanks all!!

It seems all of the non DJI carbon fiber props have bad reviews. People say these props work well though:

Used my CF props once, never again. The are just not flexible enough, and can create instability.

After I watched a YT video of a Phantom 2 crashing when a 3rd party carbon fiber prop came off in flight, I decided to stick with DJI props. The small extra cost is worth it just for the peace of mind knowing I have the right props for my drone.

Like I've mentioned before, CF props (or better said blades) can be very dangerous. They can slice through your skin and cause serious injuries. Check on youtube, you'll find some bloody clips there. Apparently they are also more vulnerable to VRS issues.

They are probably not balanced. I would recommend picking up a balancing kit. Also, you need to do more than hand tighten them!
Hope this helps!

I never done anything more than just spin my props on by hand. They are always a lot harder to get off. Even a couple of my DJI props needed to be balanced.
