Probably but who cares. If you fly within the law you can't go past 500m anyhow. 4k is like 8 times what you're allowed.

I care. And thats not true aslong as you have a spotter. Im not interested in the stupid laws. Ive flown for over 7 years now and always fly safe and with respect. I like to my machines to their capabilities. I will be testing the 7km range as soon as it comes, using a spotter to follow the drone on his bike and in constant communication with me via walkie talkie, the range is a massively important factor in what I want it for.

I'm enjoying these wild west days of drone flying.   When 18 to 20 million people DO have drones we won't be able to fly them but in designated areas.  :/

I've flown Sunnyvale Baylands Park a LOT of times. After a while you don't want to fly there anymore because you have exhausted your scenic value. It's fine for learning to fly, practicing, and getting some freeway and bay lands shots, but it's far from epic and not really that interesting.

It's a great spot for people who are R/C plane pilots, because you care more about flying than cinematography.  But most DJI UAV owners care about photography and cinematography, in which case you need variety.

Any other suggestions?

The Mavic will only go to ~4km due to EU law (it is a GPS based switch which reduces the transmitter power, it does NOT limit the Mavic's range) This is simply enforced to comply with the amount of power the Transmitter is allowed to put out and nothing else, who knows how far it will go but the figure is based on DJI's knowledge.

Take the drone to the US for example and you will get full power on the transmitter. There is nothing you can do about it (well maybe a hack of some sort but I doubt it) as it sets the power based on GPS location. Without it DJI would not have been able to sell drones in the EU.

yup, Some friends just went and they thought exactly the same thing that the staff care less about the products or customer satisfaction. Might be they are overworked and well, region courtesy counts as well.

Why 4k limit not 5 or 3? I live in UK and there is no such law about 4k limit but on output power. All TX have 100mw output no metter if u in UK or US (very close with futaba dept) dont know about spektrum but believe same. In terms of video TX is 25mw but as Mavic does not use same video transmittion technology how can you limit that to 4k range? Im confused.

Contacted DJI today and received the below replay. My order was placed on 10/04/2016.

Mavic Pro orders have exceeded supply and we are working as quickly as possible to fulfill orders.
The first batch of Mavic preorders will be shipped from mid-October on first come first served basis.
As matters stand, the earliest shipment we can make is mid-November according to your payment sequence.
Actual shipping time is determined by production capacity. I am so sorry that we are unable to tell you a concrete shipping date at the moment.
And the shipping estimation is subject to change.
The tracking details will be sent to you once it is shipped out and it will take another 3-5 days to arrive.

That's why I cancelled my DJI direct pre-order! I went through the Apple store and won't be charged until the Mavic ships. No one will take my money then give me a run around about something I paid in full. I see everyones frustrations. This is purely a ploy and was not ready for market. You people that are saying have patience will be singing another tune in a few weeks! Lol

Im a part of "everyone" here and i dont have any frustrations. I have pre ordered many items over the years and have been charged for them prior to launch. we will never know because i did not charge a CC.. it was a debit card that i put money on for miscellaneous purchases like this, so the funds are already accounted for...

You know... I'm not bothered by slight delays or timing of announcements or shipments to vendors.   The only thing I take exception to is charging people upon purchase rather than just running a pre-auth on their card.   I think it's bad business to charge people a month and a half before they receive a product.   Apple doesn't do this.   Amazon doesn't do it.   Computer companies don't even do it when you order to build a machine.

I ordered from Amazon so it doesn't affect me -- but I think it's bad business.

I Spoke with them by phone and they said that my order is in the first batch..so it mens they will send it as soon as possible maybe this week....I am from Santander-spain and waiting to see the shipment status in sent...but by now just I gotta wait...I think they need to be more clear in the information about delivery time...., when I boought it it said shipping start after mid october....now if you wan to buy one it save ---BOOK IT, and they will let you know when is going to be avalaible again...well I just gotta wait ....the only problem That I see is that we are already 17 of october and they didnt send any mavic to nobody...that sound bad....I just gotta wait and see if they do the right thing and send it this week for those people that suppost to be in the first batch.

I am also making a point that many people besides myself are pissed at coughing up a $1000+ (charged up front) only to be told BS lies about when our drones will be shipping. If your ok letting DJI sit on your money and be told the same old about when you will see your purchase,then that's ok. I'm not ok with it.

The guy in the first tweet said he got a media production model. He's still waiting on his normal preorder too. That retweet by DJI is just getting our hopes up
