In the USA you have to be able to see the aircraft... this is because of See And Avoid requirements.
You must keep your drone within sight. Alternatively, if you use First Person View or similar technology, you must have a visual observer always keep your aircraft within unaided sight (for example, no binoculars). However, even if you use a visual observer, you must still keep your unmanned aircraft close enough to be able to see it if something unexpected happens.
This is just a quick reference.... however in the full text of part 107 it goes into great detail of why this is law.
In short you have the responsibility to yield ROW to any other aircraft and since FPV cannot satisfy See and Avoid requirements.... you better be able to see the craft without any other aids other then corrective lenses. |
