Bloated Battery

I've just purchased a Vision+ 1 week ago, the battery is working fine but at the label "Phantom". It looks like that battery is getting bloated on my 2nd charge.

Does anyone has similar issues or is it only me? (it's a bit tight inserting into the compartment compared to another battery I have)

Hi all DJI Pilots,

Just to check if anyone have similar issues or resolutions for these?

1) The gimbal is function weirdly at times when my photos and video will appeared to be 40-45 degree to the left.
2) Battery was found a bit bloated after 2-3 usage and it's seems to be a bit harder to insert and pull out from the compartment compared to another battery.
3) Left side propellers appeared to stop faster compared to the ones on the right side. (tested on different floor, with or without propellers with same results)
4) Wifi extender battery show 60%-20% within 5-10min of flight time. (Did tried to drain down to 20% and recharge back to 100% but same results)
5) My Sony as my FPV screen will black out occasionally between 80-90% battery of the Wifi extender. I need to restart Wifi extender and my DJI every time to gain my FPV back. (tested with iPhone 5s, same results)
6) The camera SD card reader will need to reformat my SD card every time I've remove and reinsert it back. (every time, tested with Class 6 8GB and Class 10 16GB and Class 10 32GB, same results, always prompt max index.)

Not sure about your Sony and Wifi issues (I've got the Phantom 2)
but I CAN tell you bloating batteries on your 2nd or 3rd charge is not right. not right at all my friend.
You need to get it replaced with the warranty before it expires.

Bloated batteries are sure indicators something's going wrong with the cells.
They could leak or self ignite..you don't want that going on 200 meters in the air!
How do you fly your Phantom? Aggressively, or just loiter around?
Once the battery's done, do you charge it right away?

Hi Cloud,
Yes, for bloated battery, I've contacted my dealer, he mentioned it's ok.. But again, I don't feel right when there's issues with inserting and removing. Thus I contacted DJI, but again, they close my case without a solution. Sigh.
I completely understand that. I fly my phantom slowly and relax.. It's more for Hobbyist Photography/Videography.
Battery will stay in shade with normal air flow at least 10min before I keep them. I'll bring home and charge it. (1hour later minimum, could go up to 4-6 hours later then I'll charge.)
It's too warm to charge them immediate after flying, isn't it?
*Does DJI check out forums here?*

Hi,
May i know who's your dealer&when did you get the phantom?
In your case, it's recommended to contact with the dealer directly.

Following are the answers:
1)Calibrate the IMU and do the Advanced Calibration with the Assistant Software to see if it helps. If all those tips don't work, please contact with the dealer to arrange the repair issue.
3)Does it affect the normal using? You can try the IMU calibration.
4)Please make sure the wifi-extender full charged.
5)it seems the wifi board has problem and need to be repaired.
6)For this problem, please offer me more details. Each time when you plug the SD card into the camera, the dji vision remind you to reformat SD card automatically?Am i right?

It looks like the lipo is only one of your worries...
FWIW, the bloating sometimes occurs in spite of good QC.
If your dealer is saying it's okay, and you want another opinion, take a photo and post it for DJI to see...

Try this technique for a difficult to remove battery.

Hi Blair,
Singapore only have one dealer.
As mentioned, they mentioned that I have to ship it back to you guys or contact you guys. I only gotten my phantom for 2 weeks +, going 3 weeks. I've only charged it 1 time and it became bloated.

1) Done that, same issues.
2) -above-
3) Doesn't affect normal usage but I'm just worried.
4) Yes, it's fully charged beforehand but I'm using it overseas and didn't though that it will became low batt that fast. It was my 4th battery usage and it drop from 60% to 20% on my 4th battery. Lucky I was overseas for a few days only.
5) Will the support team be able to email me back in the soonest moment?
6) Yes, each time I remove the card to transfer the data into my computer. After that, I insert it back after removing all videos/photos. It will prompt me Max Index and asked me to reformat.

Post a picture.
If your dealer won't help, a DJI employee on the thread (like DJI-Blair) may be able to facilitate a warranty claim.
He (or she) has already asked you who is your dealer...

Hi there.
I was updating Phantom 2 Vision + to v3.06
On the DJI website is written: Added two levels of battery warnings: Low Battery Warning Level and Critical Battery Level Warning. When enabled, Auto Go-home will be activated if the battery level Reaches a Low Battery Warning Level. These warnings setup using either the DJI Phantom Vision Assistant or DJI App.

I would like to set the Low Battery Warning at 20% and Critical Battery Warning at 10%.
Can anyone give me step by step instructions how to set it up because I can not find it ???

Hi Kalis,

With the software that you have installed. Remember to install the drivers for windows as well.
Plug in your DJI Phantom, power it up. You will be able to find the icons for battery.

By the way, it's not recommended to set at 10% for critical battery. I will suggest 15%. Because once your Phantom reached 8%, the voltage might not be sufficient to maintain it's own and might "fall down". On top of that, you also might not have sufficient time to come back if you are too far away.
Just remember to come back no matter where you are at 25% (minimum) some people recommended 30% through.

Hello Adesmond,

I hope you managed to get your issue solved pretty soon.

In the meantime I am a beginner at using the P2 and I found this series of articles pretty interesting related to Lithium Batteries, mainly about how to take care of them, discharging, charging and more.

Maybe this is something that you can find useful for your future usage.

Hi Blair,

Yes, I've emailed you guys and they said, please refer back to the dealer in Singapore.
I've went down to the dealer store in Singapore. They said, I'll be charging you S$50-S$80 for sending back the battery. After confirmation of replacement, you will received your battery in about 4-8 weeks.

To be very frank, this is disappointment. S$50-S$80 = almost half of the price of a new battery. What's the point of sending back if I just purchased it within 1 month. Now it's about 2 months+.
