The EASA wants to implement rules all over Europe to limit usage of drones by civilians. Any self-built model cannot weight more than 250 grams anymore.
The altitude limit will be 50 meters. When you want to fly at 150 meters, you can not fly FPV, you need to have training and examn and license, you will have a hard geofencing system and electronic ID that transmits position, regnumber and such, and the drone needs something like a parachute.

See this video for a quick walkthrough of the proposed rules:

Write an email to them. That's the least you/we can do as long as it still can. If we do nothing, in 2-3 years our hobby is gone.

You have no voice in the EU parliament, you need to email your local MEP and persuade them to vote against it.

OP

Would it make any difference to the way you fly, you seem to pay little attention to the existing rules as it is ?

Your last video was a warning of a fine if I remember correctly.

As you say your MEP is your elected voice in the EU parliament. Email them and complain. After Brexit it probably won't matter to us.

The A3 category in the proposed rules seems sensible. It involves some certification, but that is probably a good thing.

The trouble is, those with the say so that make up the rules and regulations, most likely have never seen, or operated a drone. Invite them out, let them see how it operates, let them fly it so they can experience how much control you have with them. It couldn't hurt.
