Who knows what were in those shipping containers.  2500 remote control helicopters.  It could be that DJI is just ensuring they have enough to ship to everyone all at once.  Or it could be P4s.  Either way it takes 3 weeks for them to get something from Hong Kong to LA.  If they are Mavics it would make sense.

So DJI took my money, now goes silent and fails to give me a shipping date, I cannot cancel my order online, no answer to emails. This is disgraceful to say the least... Did the CEO take off with the cash ? Sounds like a nice scam !
I have no choice than to contest the credit card charges.

Honestly 2500 Mavic's for the US pre orders doesn't sound like enough. DJI probably would have allocated more than that so makes me think they are something else

There is a time difference to get a response to a e mail,    I have gotten a response within 24 hours on all of my emails, sent to dji,   no shipping info,  but a responce

If this was actually Mavics (and there's no evidence of that yet), then it would seem likely that it was not a typical production run shipment, but just a regional delivery, perhaps spares in case they need to replace some initial units in the first batches in the region.

Also, it could just be more units for VIPs (although that's a LOT of VIPs).

If it's indeed Mavics, then there are likely to be several other ships bringing them all over the world, and we should search for more Bill of Ladings.

But the most likely it's just a refill of some existing products -- like P4 or Inspire.

Dji send all the first batch of mavics back to replace the cameras. The first mavics had issues with the lenses. Thats the reason all this happen.

This one is in Taiwan. some sort of reseller or for press. There are a couple of similar "unboxing" videos in Chinese but most of them are with a "Not for sale" label on the drone or the box (but i cannot find a clear one in this video)

Another thing to keep in mind is that the unit of measurement is "cartons".  That may not be the number of items, but the number of boxes.  Mavics are fairly small compared to other prior products and could be packed 12 to a carton.  At that count that it would be 30,000.  Again, not jumping on this yet.  Might just be shipping 2500 boxes of rocks to shut up the forums with leaked shipping info

Fact:

When Casey Neistat shows off his replacement drone on YouTube, we should see ours maybe 10 days after....He will get it first GUARANTEED

There will be typhoon during the weekend in Shenzhen/HongKong... so can we assume if DJI cannot ship today (right now 9:20am OCT 20th in HK), it will not be shipped out by 24th and no one will receive it before the end of OCT? (unless they change to air shipment)

and according to Chinese forum, no pre-order in HK or mainland China has been shipped (i m in HK myself with preorder on 28th). and Chinese resellers issued the delay notice as well yesterday.

I don't believe shipping by air is an option due to the LiPos.  Ground and water transport only.  I believe they are only allowed by air in small quantities and on person not in cargo.  May be wrong about though.  I'm wrong a 100 times a day, what's a 101.

What is your order#, what happened when you tried to cancel it online?

I've seen this before. Ordered early, within minutes of the official release. Paid immediately and hopefully be in on the ground floor. Then a bunch of Casey N. types will start posting their unboxing vids a month before I get mine because I don't live in NY or LA. Preorders are pretty much a pipe dream for us common folk.

At this point, maybe DJI should just program each Mavic with the GPS coordinates of our shipping addresses, and send them on over--toss in a few extra batteries to make the trip across the Pacific Ocean!  :-D

There are different classes of LiPos that have specific requirements depending on size, capacity, lithium content, packaging, etc.  Depending on volume there may be class 9 hazardous material handling involved for air transport that adds additional cost to shipping and becomes prohibitive.  More info can be found here:

DJI Chinese forum update (just now); someone posted: DJI Tmall.com shop sales "confirmed" the first batch will be shipped by the end of 25th OCT (Beijing Time +8).

In case you have no idea what "DJI tmall.com shop" means: on China online retailers' website, some companies will have their own direct-sale shop, not resell by retailers; DJI is having one on tmall.com (i can confirm this) and the sales should be under the same department as DJI pre-sales we contacted.

The post was not providing any evidence and there are a lot of suspicions in Chinese as well. also someone in Chinese forum said if DJI cannot ship today, it will be considered fake advertisement and against law but I have no idea whether it is true in Chinese law system.
