What iPads fit into the Controller (Transmitter)

I have an iPad 4th Gen (A1458). It is just the iPad, not the Phone/Internet one. Mine has no GPS. It is the largest memory one out there ($$$), but if it ain't up to snuff, it ain't worth squat, right?

As a back-up, my wife does have her iPhone6, so I know that is a valid option.

I'm just wondering if the version of my iPad (A1458) is good enough to fly a drone with?

No GPS, No outdoor internet service, etc. Oh, and of course the size of the iPad too! 9.5 x 7.31 x 0.37 (Not too sure, but I believe these values are in inches, and not CM's.

Looking at scoring a Phantom 4 soon (if the Wife will allow me to live through this first...)

I know a lot of us on here with the P4, use the iPad pro 9.7 and the 12.1 and never had any problems with them.

edit: we do use an adapter to use these big screens

Using a remarkable iPad Air2 64gb Cellular here, it's stellar!! Never a hiccup or problematic flight.
And much like the iPad Pro, it just fits the marvelous Inspire1 device holder. Ha

I find the iPad is to large and the iPhone to small. What I settled on and really like it is the iPad Mini 4.
