Just got my mavic today, and I flew it for like 10 minutes. Everything was fine, but the app was telling me that there was controller interference. I've flown my P3A in this same area and there was no issue. So, I saw that there was a calibration option in the app menu. So, I went ahead and did that and it was just for calibrating the sticks, but that seemed to work. After that I tried to fly again and as you can see in the photo it just says mech err. The app is still connected, but the controller no longer seems to control anything.

I also contacted DJI support via chat because it says for this error to contact support, but they just said they would have to notify the devs and get back to me....

Just wondering did you do all of the steps for initial calibration ?  I do not own one yet , but did some reading  on it ,  looked like there was some  calibrations steps necessary  before first flight .

I have had to do two upgrades.  Please remove the App, power cycle the device and then reinstall.  See if that gives you an update notification.  When you did the RC calibration, I assume that you were not connected to Mavic.

I think I only did one update, but according to the status everything was latest firmware. Also, the mavic was off when I calibrated the controller. I also tried calibrating it again, and there were no issues reported.

How about connecting it to DJI Assistant 2 on he PC and Mac and see if you can refresh the FW or update again.

Hmm good luck man i really hope it works out for you, but according to the Manual "MECH ERR" is that something is physically not right with the RC itself.

Ok, I first tried restoring factory defaults through the assistant, that failed. Then I tried doing a refresh on the existing firmware, that failed. Then I tried downgrading to the previous firmware, that failed.

The firmware that is being reported in the assistant is V1.02.0810 if that helps.

It worked for about 10 minutes prior to this happening, but I was getting an interference warning in a place that I've flown my phantom 3 without any issues, so I don't know. I just want to fly my mavic!

for some reason the controller wont turn off for me.. ive tried the two short press and long press, long press. nothing. just continues to sit there. anyone else with this issue?

It's still broken. When I originally contacted DJI,they said they would look into it and reply in 24-48 hours. Well, after 48 hours passed I reached out again only to be told that it's a defect and I'll have to send it back for a replacement. I asked if I could just get a controller replacement since I can still use the mavic via wifi, but they said it's all or nothing. I also asked if they could send the replacement first, to which they said no. So, now I have to send mine back, wait for it to get to them, then they will ship me a new one. They told me that once they receive mine a new one would be shipped out and I would get it in 5-7 days, but I don't know if I believe that.
So, this sucks. I now will have to wait a minimum of two weeks to get another mavic, after waiting a whole month.

That sucks, but a lot of us have to wait another full month to get ours and we ordered in the first couple days too. I just hope they actually have a replacement to send you.

Damn... But perhaps also good for you. That they fix issues before yours crashed.

Btw, did they ever explain what the error means? Is it an error on the remote or an error reported by the aircraft trough the remote?

No explanation. If you check out the photo in my second post you can see the error. It's on the controller itself. It shows up if even if the phone isn't plugged in.

I am in the same boat, just tried to do a calibration of the remote and am getting the same error. This is ridiculous and should not be the case. I am very upset and disappointed.

UPDATE: Just fixed the issue, just need to make sure you move the joysticks slowly in a square and make sure the lines are completely solid. @Natemz

Last time I saw the Mech error, I just restart both aircraft and controller and the error gone...

I tried this multiple times (making sure all white lines filled in)  and still didn't fix "mech err".  I also used DJI Assistant 2 to downgrade the firmware and then reupgrade to current version, but I'm still seeing "MECH ERR".  I sent request to DJI support but they're closed for the weekend...  Really hoping this is firmware.
Update:  I tried the recalibration for like the tenth time and finally it finished without "MECH ERR".  I'm not sure what I did differently but the only thing I can think of is that on previous attempts I did the gimbal last, this time I did it first.  Whatever I did, I'm definitley not doing the calibration again.

There is a fix being tested for the Mech Error. I know its annoying but please bare with DJI just a little bit..I suspect waiting will be quicker than sending it back

Also, already spoken to support and have received a shipping label to send just the controller back. Was planning to do so in the morning. Should I hold off? Is it possible that this is just a software issue? Would much rather just download an update than have to send back only to find out that an update resolves a day later. Any info you can provide on whether the issue is hardware or software would be appreciated. Leaving on a trip next week and really don't want to be stuck with only my phone as the controller.

Just uploaded a video to youtube showing the whole process. Realized the lens filter on my DSLR was cracked after, so not the best focus, but demonstrates the issue.
