I've been flying the Mavic all day, but the last time I tried, I keep getting this error:
"Gimbal Obstructed. Auto-Restart in Progress."

The camera seems like it's trying to turn, but sometimes makes a click and points to the right, like it's jammed or something. I've tried turning off the Mavic and moving it by hand and nothing really seems wrong with it.

I called support and they recommended doing a Gimbal Auto Calibration, but when I try, it doesn't do anything. I don't get the progress bar like it's supposed to give me, I assume because the gimbal is erroring out.

Any ideas?

I feel like this is going downhill for DJI, it really seems like they rushed this Model and after all the Threads pass with "When will my Mavic Ship!!??" will translate to "I have this problem and this and this!"

Not sure how that helps me with my problem, but ok. Man, this forum has seriously turned into a bunch of complaining. I get it, DJI handled it super poorly. But I asked for help, not a pity party.

Hey man, yeah i was a lil bit angry, just because you do get this issue, but try powering off the Mavic, make sure it's straight leveled on a table and do first a IMU Calibration & check if you get green bars on IMU 1 & IMU 2. Next try the Gimbal Calibration.

Put it on a wood table.  There is not a lot of clearance for the gimbal and it is easy to interfere with its motion.

I have seen 4 unboxed Mavic's today,  the  gimbal cover was off in the box,  one was broken,  looks to me more like  a  handling problem,  on  two of the unboxing's  the front corner of the Mavic box, looked to be kind of munched,   maybe the boxes got dropped, or another issue,  Mine is in Seattle, I get it in the morning, hope ever thing is ok,  looks to be  a repeat on the gimbal problem now on two that have posted so far,  hope all is well and issue gets corrected soon,   happy droning

I have a feeling it's a firmware problem as it kind of goes away with an IMU re-cal but then comes back again on reboot.
UPDATE - Now seems like a mechanical problem. The IMU cali worked because of laying it on its side resets the camera but then the problem comes back.

Slightly OT, but should we be putting the gimbal clip back in place when we transport the drone? Not the cover, but the stabilizing clip.

Yes, that way your gimbal is locked as what the manual suggests on page 6.

HFI, when you have the Mavic off and you rotate the gimbal up (pointing toward the ceiling), does it feel like it gets hung on the dampener plate? Mine does. Or did...I may or may not have gently taken some needle nose pliers to it to ever so slightly relieve that catching. DON'T DO THIS. I'M NOT RECOMMENDING IT. IT'S YOUR DRONE, IT'S NOT MY FAULT IF YOU BREAK IT. but it works now.

Hi YF...

Thanks for getting back to me. Mine does not feel like it catches on the damper plate. It does however feel like it wants to turn the cam to the right when powered off. It now seems like somethings off internally like this

I've been online with DJI and it looks like I will have to send it in for repair. {:4_157:}

Was your gimbal clamp and cover attached correctly on delivery ? Mine was not.

We do not recommend the you calibrate the IMU unless you have abnormal behavior in flight or the App requests that you do.  I would like to see a video of the gimbal start up and the auto calibration there after if possible.  The Mavic is different that the Phantoms.  If you try your old methods you may damage them.  The current firmware works just fine.  If you are asked to upgrade please do so.  Please post a video on a flat surface that is not around any metallic objects.
Also please show us the camera screen and the About screen.  Thank you.

I have 1.02.0810 installed. Updated the firmware when it arrived yesterday.
After waiting all this time I could honestly strangle the person who didn't install the gimbal clamp and cover correctly. I'm moving out off the country next week so won't be able to get it repaired here and then have to deal with getting it repaired on arrival.
