That is how the Mavic operates, it does not have a manual ATTI mode.
Users have asked for a manual mode and the request has been made but I do not know if it would ever be implemented or not.

Yes, full directional control and altitude control.
Altitude unrestricted to 500M, I sent that question to clarify if VSS is active is the restriction 50m.
I don't believe it's restricted but I will post when I get an answer.

Ok, still off topic, but there is just to much confusion here. Like the Canyon example. Will it count as NEGATIVE altidude, so when GSP is LOST and VVS is active, can we get it out since it is negative and +5 or +50m is the max?

Also, Sports mode disabled VVS I think... I really would like an answer to that.
I have also been wondering, if you go behind something that is higher then 50m, and also lost GPS. The drone will forever stay on the other side? How do we fix this? What settings, setup, switches do we change to get it back over the obstacle?

I really feel DJI should write a good paper on this with examples.

That assumption is just not true.  I do NOT think it is an electrical or mechanical issue.  It's the software not reading the stick position 100% of the time.  (Probably because the software is stuck in a subroutine loop...)  It's software.  It can be fixed.

They call it sticky as in the software, not the actual stick on the controller.

As this has been brought up let me help.

The infamous Balcony video event was because the Quad was in indoor mode on the VPS the idiot flew out over a balcony so the Quad slowly dropped until VPS could see the Ground - perfect worked as designed
If it was in GPS mode for positioning  and Gps is lost you will have ATTI and a Baro for height, below 30~40 feet VPS might pickup positioning for you.

As this was balcony event was reported as a Fault, who knows what the system does now with the new firmware !

DJI had provided the DJI Download Tool 1.5 to me.  You can contact them and they should be able to e-mail a link to you.

This seems not correct, the chief engineer of mavic said in a post on zhihu.com that it was designed to be able to remain stable and not descend or anything when it comes out from a balcony in the tall buliding...that was specifically mentioned in the post as one of the technical features..and that guy was the chief engineer...

I have not tried with the new firmware to see what happens.
And the new firmware addresses it.

Yeah, I saw that, wouldn't be like DJI to give you actual information

I suspect they just call the Baro if  the VPS drops out suddenly, well that would certainly be the logical option

Ken, do we know if all these mysterious control input crashes have been just people with  iphone's and has anything come back from DJI yet ?

I actually made a mistake, that engineer mentioned this feature when he was illustrating DJI's second generation flight control software...And he actually said that started from phantom 4 on, dji uses second generation flight control software and so the P4 is capable of stably flying out from a very high balcony..

So today I received a call from DJI in China.  I was hoping they would provide me with an answer regarding the analysis of my Mavic Pro Log as well as the Remote Log.  They actually said that the software they provided me to download the remote log files was old and they sent me a new one (despite sending me the old one the previous day).  I figured until I hear from them, I'd make a video showing what I needed to do to pull the log files off the Mavic Pro and the remote.  

None of these incidents have been on the west coast have they?

NOTAMS have been posted about GPS irregularities being done by the military on certain dates like this one:  https://www.faasafety.gov/files/ ... Flight_Advisory.pdf  See page two for the coverage.

There was also one prior to this coming out of Ridgecrest, CA (i.e. China Lake Naval Weapons Station) that affected more of the south-western USA.  I don't get the east coast NOTAMS to know if they do the same there.

This is a shame that we seem to have some issues with this new drone ... this is my first drone as i have sat on the sidelines of drones for a very long time i really do hope this issue is software and is resolved asap. I ordered the kit mavic so mine is weeks away from arriving i am really torn on weather to cancel this and wait a few months.
