Well, in this part of the world recreational UAV flying is practically over until the next season. Aside obvious battery storage at 50% charge, what will be the best practice to keep them alive and ready for charging when wintery lanscape calls for occasional shooting?

hey there, I am going to try and fly when the weather permits but its cold and rainy here. I have found a place to fly inside that will allow me to keep in practice. Is there a large warehouse or building you can fly inside from time to time?

Other than keeping your batteries at 50% and turning on the Inspire to go on the flight sim, not much more you can do

No, RichJ53 Brother, no large building available here for such activity. I wouldn't even try this LOL. Anyway, The Editor of Inspire Pilots forum told me to keep watchful eye on my batteries and just charge them back to storage capacity if the voltage drops below 50%. Which confirmed my guess, basically.

Cheers.

Having had one battery go out of balance, and basically be junked after storing it for about 4 months (starting at 50% charge too), I have decided to exercise my batteries once every couple of months.  Basically, fully charge them, discharge them right down (by flying usually) and then charge again to 50%.  I did wonder about cobbling together some kind of electronical device that would do a cycle every month or two automatically, but the idea of an autocharge system put me off a bit...

Too much automation, especially with LiPo batteries, would make me weary as well. It's better to keep an eye on them for general safety.
