Hello,

I've noticed that there are big prices difference from a country to another.

In Europe, it's 1199 euros;

In the US, 999 USD, i.e. 901 euros = 298 euros cheaper...

In China, 6499 CNY, i.e. 867 euros = 332 euros cheaper...

I can understand that the price might be different for different locations but a 300 euros gap (or 330 usd) is not acceptable since it is 1/3 of the US pricing!

Can you please explain those disparities?

Thanks,

In Australia its $1699 = 1174.52 euros.   We also get ripped off comparatively with all apple products also.

I wonder if this is also just the preorder price, and when things calm down the price goes up. I would think the Mavic should cost more for all the features it has, and it probably will once they have all the bugs taken care of.

Agreed. But again, here we are talking about 1/3 of the product price...You cannot explain/justifiy such a gap only with currencies rates, shipping cost or customs taxes...

Very constructive comment... from a very mature person...

Sorry but when I'm buying a 1k drone, I try to have the most information I can get before... and the pricing is a legitimate one considering the huge difference from a currency to another...

Everybody is not a spoiled rotten kid with 1k to spend without questioning a bit what you are paying for...

Often companies will change their prices worldwide depending on how much they think people will pay, based on how wealthy people are. ie, if everyone in a country is super wealthy, they can afford to spend more on a drone.

At today's exchange rate $1481 for plain Mavic with remote in South Africa. $481 premium for one years piece of mind. Crazy!

If you don't like the fair questions being asked don't read them, simple!

I am with the OP. Why is the price so different? I am asked to pay £1000 in UK which makes the exchange rate 1:1 with USD which clearly it isn't!

Local tax.

If I buy the drone in U.S I'll have to pay 19% local tax + 3,7-14% duty. Remember you also pay tax for shippement costs. So... let's see an example:
Drone: 1000$
Shipping: 50$ ?
Tax: 199,5$ (19% Germany)
Duty: 38,85 - 147$ (3,7-14% Germany)

Final price: 1295,73 - 1424,43$ == 1166,22 - 1282,06€

Et voila.... as you can see we got nearly the exact local pricing with ~ 1199€

I got your point, i.e. you have no incentive to "import" by yourselves from the US - Totally agreed.

However, my point is that the pricing should be "substantially" similar, i.e. you should pay a similar fair value in each countries because the product remains substantially the same (in my opinion, only the support may be slightly different depending on local regulations).

It's been like this for awhile for you guys in the UK unfortunately.  Just noticed you're in Austria, I think the article is still relevant since it encompasses Europe.

"There are many factors that influence the final price of consumer electronics in different markets," a spokesman for Microsoft says. "This includes, but is not limited to tax, tariff and exchange rates."

This article goes into great detail.

I read your article. Interesting indeed...

But the conclusion is confirming that the pricing is based on the assumption that Europeans will pay more than US or Asia.

As stated in the article, EU consumers are expecting to pay more. I already know that and need to accept it even if I disagree with it...

But here it is 1/3 of total value... unacceptable! I will wait to go to china or the US to buy one of these... and if the competition release a better one before, Dji will miss a sale (and I hope many more)

Yes, the product is the same but each country have own contracts with china, one have to pay more tax...other less...look at ceta/ttip etc...for europeans its good deal to buy it in UK aslong brexit is not completed...arround 1200€ for combo...instead of 1499 in GER or AUT...
