I was able to get 88mph with some crazy tail wind...however right at that point, the mavic simply disappeared into thin air!! Dont know where or when its at..

It's probably sitting in a barn in 1955 .

If you're curious about your Mavics speed just fly straight away flat out wide open for about 5 minutes then calculate the distance traveled vs the time it took in the flight log.

I fly with iPhone and get average speed of 40mph. I flew with a nexus 7 android and got 60mph one time I can't get it to hit that speed again. It did seem to me that it was going that fast. I have done updates since that 60mph flight and haven't seen 60 again. The 60mph was one of my early flights.  Were you flying with android or apple?

This is an old issue. There was a software bug that misinterpreted the speed. Bottom line......The Mavics top speed is about 40mph average when in sports mode. It's regulated to about that speed even when flying with a stong tail wind...you may get just a bit more for a second  because of the sampling rates of the gps. . For those of you that believe you are going 60 mph+, please read back through the history on this. It's been well documented and .dat log files and measured distances/ times support this. It can actually be graphed over a given time period very easily. Likewise, the speeds of about 21 mph when using OA, and 31 mph with OA off are the top speeds in these modes, and are regulated to about these speeds even with a tail wind,

My opinion is that all mavics go at same speed and difference is only due to wind. The demonstration is that there is a motor maximum rotation speed that is same for all and if exceeded there is a warning that would suggest pilot to slow down.

Can some HELP ME PLEASE. How is this speed achievable as I am only able to see 37kph out of my Mavic Pro. Would like to be able to see the 40mph speed dji claims at least. There's a huge difference in 37kph to 40mph I should almost be able to see double 37kph.. are there different propellers to be able to achieve this speed or what am I doing wrong. I am in sport mode not beginner and have turned gains wide open to what it says I am able to do

Wow!  What are you flying?  A Cessna Citation X?  Normal airliner won't do that.  This is one of the few civilian aircraft that will go that fast (604 MPH cruise speed).

They do tend to carry that gaudy hardwood trim that I don't care for though.

37 KPH is roughly the maximum P-mode (non-Sport) speed. Check to make sure that you've enabled Multiple Flight Modes, then select Sport mode with the switch and try again; as long as you're not flying against the wind you should be able to achieve the advertised speed.
