From a business perspective, focus on delivering the products to those who paid.
Privilege the paying customers. Those people paid already and that has very little to do with Youtubers as DJI's market knows DJI and their products. Good products AND good service is the best (the real) advertising, and hardly the Youtubers.
They can send as many free devices as they want, I'm not making my decision based on that, hardly watching.
This issue impacting so many customers who paid and for so long now can place DJI into the liability zone.

Today I have cancelled all of my 3 pre orders, so Good luck if this bumps someone even slightly closer to getting theirs.
However from what I've read on this forum over the past few weeks is that the Mavic will be a great drone when the bugs get fixed.
On the down side DJI does not give a Damn about any of their paying customers & if anything goes wrong you will have to jump through hoops to get anywhere.

Your approach is right and DJI deserves a reaction for the way they "managed" this matter and disappointed their enthusiastic customers who could'n wait to get this product. It's a disaster.
I'll do the same if my order is not delivered by the end of this week.

The best is if we cancel all our orders only then the Chinese unserius guys will start to think what a crap they ve made! Self shoot the leg!

This is pissing me off .. another Friday coming and going .. no word. This would be the first time I've ever owned a drone and the first time I've ever pre-ordered anything. I ordered 10/01. I've been rather upbeat throughout this whole wait but also not and getting more cranky. Seriously also considering forgetting about this endeavor, get my money back. I'm saying to myself ... what the heck did you want a drone for anyway? Another week goes by and no word.

Sure. But these products are not coffee machines nor juice extractors destined to the masses.
They are (still) niche products, for those who know what they buy; DJI just need to honour the orders the soonest and the word will spread. The "real" word..

Yes, it doesn't take a long distance until it's hard to see and it's easy to lose orientation with my nearly 50yr old eyes. It's flat and that combined with the color makes it hard to see when it's far away.
The Trackimo will fit perfect on the top front.

Hi Ken. Speaking about distance, I intend (if I ever see the Mavic or if I don't cancel it) to use it on my trips to our company's farms in Africa for field / production assessment. Distance is critical as fields are "endless". Now you see why I paid for the Fly more ...(%£!ù'&@!)
I need the 7 KM range, as the drones for Europe go half that distance and that's not enough in 22 000 hectares fields.

I'm sorry you cancelled, they are shipping all the time now. Again it's the case that due to the amount of people who ordered it's taking longer. Remember, the first day the ordering page of the website was crashing all day long. As I said, from posts here and other social media many are receiving theirs on a daily basis.

I'm sorry it's taking longer than expected.
As a first time drone owner, I would 100% go out and purchase a $50 Syma to practice on. DJI aircraft are very easy to fly but the problem is they are highly advanced and you need to know all of it's features, functions, and limitations.
With learning how to fly a multirotor and at the same time learning how a DJI aircraft operates, it can be a challenge.
While you are waiting, I would read the manual cover to cover a few times and watch all the tutorial videos and practice on a inexpensive drone until you are a confident pilot.

The 7km range is in perfect flight conditions. If there is any interference around you will not get 7km.
You may be better with a DIY build and getting your ha radio license and using a 433MHz DragonLink. That is what I use to use.

I'm talking about the FCC one. As the EU models are "restricted".

I am just worried about not getting it before i leave the country for a year, I won't even get to use it, I ordered it on the 28th of september and 6-7 weeks more of a wait or am I reading it wrong? none of the canadian combo packages seem to be shipping.

Hello Mr. DJI Ken, Wow you have to be so many places at one time. A few back a member ask about loss of control update so I would like to mention that the latest firmware update has already been issued to address this. So not only a ramp up in production but less not forget the behind the production the engineering staff must keep up with any problems the users detect with this airframe. Remarkable to me how quickly they resolved this loss of control issue as it was an intermittent flaw to begin with. When will my googles ship? donnie

I know that's what your talking about as South Africa is FCCStill, you will not get 7km if there is any interference which is why I said a DIY and DragonLink wouuld be better for you.

I have to say it is funny.. the Mavic is smaller and harder to see based on the color / shape. Plus they use a cell phone for the monitor    At lease the P4 is white

My 60 + eyes are still pretty sharp but this is pushing it.

I am sure that this will be fun and starting reading up on the craft so I will be ready.

Edit, I saw a YouTube video that someone has connected the iPad to the remote using the same micro USB port.  That might be the way to go if you need to fly to the limits of LOS.

Yes, there's already several people who have 3d printed iPad Mini holders. BUT the Mini will fit in the holder and you can plug into the bottom port.
The latest firmware prioritized the side port so if you use the bottom port you have to unplug the side.

I was reading some of the FW update posts about the USB port issue / change. I do not see the need to have both the side and lower port plugged in at the same time. Anyway it seems to be nice that you can use the iPad too.

Say hi from me to the repair guys at the shop..... my Inspire is flying great and the camera is working awesome!!

Edit:  I see you have not gotten your Mavic yet... maybe we will get the at the same next week    But it must nice to fly the units at the shop

The last announcement said around the clock production, I'm guessing they're working 7 days a week.But again, I don't know know if that's fact or not.

Why is it that if you actually look at what is shipping on the global spreadsheet, only about 10 drones ship per day?  Is that full swing production?  At that rate, we're looking at 23 weeks or so to get through the remaining 1600 orders on there.  How does that break down to 7-8 weeks for everything ordered before Nov 3rd?

The spreadsheet probably shows less than 1% of orders. You can't use it to estimate daily production..

Just read this article. Very interesting read (something to do while waiting for my Mavic). Seems that not everyone at DJI is on the same page. We've been hearing incessantly that the reason for the delay is unexpected demand, but then this.....?

There's definitely alot more than 100,000 orders.

DJI sells over 500,000 phantoms per year. The size of the Mavic brings in an entire new batch of customers.

They said 7-8 weeks from November 3, which puts us in January 2017.  With the holidays coming up, the priority is going to be their large dealers, so for the VAST majority of us that pre-ordered, it's gonna be next year before we get our drone...Brace yourself. Winter is coming.
