I just couldn't wait any longer for my pre-order. Ordered on 9/28 @ 7:48am UTC and still haven't gotten a shipping update. I originally ordered the Mavic so I could take it with me on my New Zealand trip on Nov. 9th but it looks like that's not going to happened so I ordered the Karma from Best Buy instead. It will arrive on Tuesday with on day shipping. I still kept my pre-order with DJI. I'm still keeping my pre-order for the Mavic but it's sad that I had to dish out another thousand dollars for a backup drone while my money is being tied up in DJI!

Instead of the Karma, why didn't you go get the Phantom 3 or 4. I know they don't fold up. But put in a case and your good to go and you'd have a reliable drone.

I also wanted the stabilizer and I didn't want to carry around an extra iPad. I'm going to be doing a lot of hiking on my trip and wanted something more transportable which is why my first choice was the Mavic.

Also, Casey Neistat said the image quality on the Karma was better than the Phantom 4.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. LOL And what Casey says, I'd take with a grain of salt. I don't think he even takes the time to set the camera settings right.

I did the same bought another drone, Autel XSP, until I get the Mavic.
No, you can't fold it into a small package but for now it works. Actually it's fantastic.

You guys can talk all the crap you want about the Karma, but thinking that the P4 has a better camera than gopro means you should get your eyes checked.

Of course that would be the response, its like telling Apple fanboys that an Android has a better anything, your ears just can't take it.

And it didn't seem to bother him when one of the props flew off the Karma when he landed it...

Sorry to hear you're canceling, hopefully you have a better experience with GoPro. I would definitely go with Karma over the Phantom for the portability

Wrong!!!  I have the Hero 5 and the Linear mode is a great picture without any distortion or fish eye effect.....

You do realize that GoPro includes an app and plugins for removing the fisheye without loss of detail, right?

I've compared gopro image vs phantom 4 and the phantom is much better, also Casey is an idiot so I wouldn't put to much stock in what he says.

Eh?? The Karma and the P4 both need rather large backpacks. I don't see the Karma as being any more portable than the Phantom.

Lol,yeah ok....Obviously you are joking....Gopro has as good a video as any camera out... You can take it out of wide view and have same video quality as any camera..Everyone who does not own a gopro assumes fish eye effect is only video it takes... Wrong......Superview is great for action sports,jumping out of plane etc... Otherwise you can use different views just like any other camera.4k,1080p etc....

braddahjosh808, I'm in an almost identical boat (except I leave to NZ on Dec 2) so I have a bit more time but didn't order until Oct 15. Would love to get your experience on traveling with the drone and if you run into any issues with customs/authorities/etc when you get back. Appreciate any info you'd be willing to provide and have a great trip!

Really? The Karma can fit into GoPro's Seeker backpack which is really quite small, much smaller than the case it comes in. The Phantom, being so tall requires a much bigger bag or hard case.

Good luck with that 14 minutes of battery life from Karma.  And GoPro doesn't even have any spare batteries available.

Thanks! That is exactly where I'm flying to. I'm going to be hiking the Milford Track and doing some other hikes around the South Island.

You will love milford sound!! If get a chance mt cook national park is a must and if have the stamina for stairs lots of them head up to mueller hit and olivers peak its the one sir edmond hilary played around on before mt everest ;-).....drone highley reccomend ;-)

Same here! Will be doing the Milford Track as well. FWIW - NZ has banned drones from the Great Walks trails. Elsewhere its generally permissible with permission, etc etc.

Yah I saw that. I didn't plan on bringing the drone on that hike anyway. What days are you doing the Milford? I start out on Nov. 16.

I start on Dec 8 (leave home on Dec 2 but dont get to NZ until the 7th due to a couple stops on the way)
