Seems like it works with clear sky & worm wather .  I think this test was shot in Kuwait .

Very important : he disable Vision positioning system before flying over moving surface (water) .
He started with 25mins battery reached 5Km & he still have 16mins of juice left .

This is what I bought this drone for to begin with. I will primarily be using it over water following my boat as we cruise and flying around the islands we visit so I'm hoping it behaves well over water and doesn't make any splash landings since it does have the sensors to avoid those types of situations.

The reason why he stopped at 5Km because  he didn't change or disabled on the setting the Maximum fly  distance . ( 5000 m by default )

yup, saw the warning come up it's not likely anyone would fly it 7.1km often unless to test it out but what that would mean for me is it'll work better than P4 in shorter distances as well

I would be very interested to hear how this compares to European versions for flight distance.

It's a pity he didn't take a moment to level the gimbal and set the exposure.

Good question really. If one assumes there is no obstruction between you and say your girlfriends house, you can fly straight there and don't have to avoid trees or houses. Further you can see her house, and when the bird flies you can watch it all the way there and back. That is called line of sight.
If on the other hand you fly out to sea as the video shows, fairly quickly you will not be able to see your bird, and you are no longer in line of sight mode. You are relying entirely on the video and your instruments, which by definition means you are not flying line of sight any more because you can not see the bird.
The liability of causing damage when you are not following the rules is enormous. Maybe this only happens in the USA, but line of sight is a good idea no matter where you fly.
