I got an error massage "Magnetic Field Interference" on screen and tried to calibrate the compass again, however it failed and i tried at difference location but still fail. By looking into the sensor status, compass 1 is healthy, but compass 2 is always interfered and show a value of 999. Is this mean compass 2 is failed, and need to be repaired by DJI.

Ouch.  That sure looks like a hardware failure, but I'll wait for a DJI rep to chime-in and confirm.  Nothing worse than having something new show up with a problem.

Try a firmware reset via the DJI Assistant 2 PC app. Also restart the aircraft, after resetting the latest firmware. If that doesn't sort the issue out, will definitely need to contact DJI Support about it.

Just curious what you think may have caused the magnetic interference?  Were you flying close to any power lines or something similar?

Have you tried a compass calibration?
If it still persists, tyr to plug ut into the Assistant2 and do a factory reset. If it still stays the same, reinstall the firmware from the Assistant2.
If it does not go away, then please contact DJI Support and have it sent in for evaluation.
It's never had any hard landings or you haven't attached anything to the Mavic correct?

Never had a hard landing before. Tried compass recalibration, restore factory setting and reinstalled the firmware but problem still exist.

Thanks for trying the factory reset and reinstalling the firmware.
If you have nothing attached to the aircraft and the interference warning will not go away then it's time to contact support and send it in.

Ken thanks for the advice, I have bring the drone to DJI technical support today, and they confirmed a compass hardware failure and replaced the aircraft for me straight away.

I have the exact same problem! Got my Mavic yesterday and impossible to make it fly. Compass 2 is not calibrating! Seems like they are having a bad serie of units... How fast did DJI say they will replace yours? Where do you live?

Hi Ken. I am the lucky one to get the first Mavic delivered by Apple in Singapore but the unluckiest one to have trouble with it... With the support of Barry Blanchard, I have downgraded my firmware to the 2 previous versions and each time, I tried to recalibrate and the compass 2 is still not responding. I have also done factory reset. I have also re-updated the firmware to the latest version and the problem still persists... I have open a case with DJI support and waiting for their feedback. I have also open a case with Apple. What is the procedure for products purchased with Apple? Ship back to DJI at my own cost or have it replaced by Apple?

I am sorry about that, since Barry already tried to assist you and all the troubleshooting steps you've taken and compass# 2 still will not calibrate then you should have it repaired or exchanged.
It's up to you if you want to send it in or take it to Apple and exchange it.
If you purchased it from Apple, it's probably quicker to exchange it through them. BUT I would talk to them first to see if they have stock to make an exchange.

Not as much as I am... Ken, is it possible to get by email some kind of report from DJI confirming that my unit is entitled for replacement because I am not sure that Apple have the expertise to assess that my unit has a faulty compass. Like this, it will help the process to go faster. I am leaving to Europe for holidays in 2 weeks and I will be extremely disappointed if I cannot have a replacement unit by then. Thanks for your support.

Apple confirmed me today that there is no spare unit for replacement and they don't expect any before January 2017! DJI Support is reviewing my case and I hope that they will be able to send me a replacement unit as soon as they have received mine.
I heard another person in Singapore is also having the same problem with his Mavic which he also received from Apple. I hope we are just isolated cases.

Sorry that's unfortunate. Have you tried going to a different area to try to calibrate the compass?

hi, another case that does not calibrate the second compass ... unfortunately the drone bought it in Florida and I am in Colombia and the assistance service of DJI would take weeks not to say months.
.... I have found forums with unorthodox solutions such as passing a magnet to three centimeters of the compass. Another solution is to uncover the mavic and check that none of the cable phases of the engines are near the compass.
the person from Singapore or someone else has found a solution?

Hi, I was able to solve the problem of the compas; a friend electrical engineer recommended me to do a selenoid to demagnetize the compas 2 and it works perfectly.
