You can download a trial for the new final cut pro to see if you like it. I have and I think it's great. I am by no means a professional video editor but I like how easy it was to use.
Once my trial ends I'll be purchasing it.

A buddy of mine who does video production turned me on to DaVinci Resolve. It's FREE! But totally professional. It really shines for color correction. You can't do titles or whiz bang effects, but for editing, and color management it's pretty amazing...especially for free. The folks at Black Magic are behind it. I think it's available for Windows but I downloaded it from the Apple Store on my mac.

Yes Final Cut Pro is the best.  DaVinci Resolve is alright but the free version does not support 4K.

Adobe premier expensive though.

Worth nothing, if you've got it through an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription - then you'll also get Adobe After Effects (compositing tool) and Adobe SpeedGrade (colour grading).

Worth noting that the final credits for Star Trek Into Darkness were created in After Effects.

Yea I guess you're right.  On their website when you go to download it, its specific only studio ($999) does 4K, but then I see posts and articles saying 4K support started in the free version starting in 2014.  So that's good to know.   Thanks.

Great thread - Editing video has always been a nightmare for me. Goal is to be able to produce nice quality video to place on youtube of share with friends. Not trying to get anywhere near some of the Stellar stuff I see around here.  Given I am on win10 I will have a crack at DaVinci Resolve.   BTW  I am on PC - should I switch the video container from MOV to MP4 or does it matter little?

If I was starting with a new editing platform i think I would pick Adobe Premier Pro and learn After Effects as well, but I'm too used to Final Cut and all my projects are there so I will continue with it. It does most of what I need and its fast.

So my choices would be:
Paid: Adobe Premier Pro
Free: Davinci Resolve

-As mentioned up thread, I just tried DaVinci Resolve.  My SP3 i5 did not have the HP to run it so I uninstalled.
-Tried a Win10 App store app called Easy Movie Maker and it was not much use either.
-Dabbled with the DJI-Go editor on my Samung S7. The lack of intuitivity with how to trim a clip drove me nuts. (Every clip is 6 seconds or whatever that means).

Ended up installing Adobe Premier Pro and fit is working well for me.   I found a 20 min quick start on youtube for it and I am up and running and even my lowly SP3 i5 is working with it. Nice.

I have modest goals with my video editing. My PC is under powered as a video editor.  Given my aim is only to be able to share the odd video on You-tube, should I be dropping the Mavic back from 2.7K to 1080? If I leave Mavic at 2.7k then when I export from Premier Pro for you-tube I need to drop it back to 1080 at that point in any case. Does this conversion in the export slow thing up? I am guessing so.

Just looking for the simplest workflow to crank out basic You-tube videos from adobe PP.

Also can someone PLS explain why if instead of using Match Source (2.7k), I select a much lower 1080 resolution that goes with one of the youtube presets with adobe PP, why do UI end up with a larger output file? Seems counter intuitive to me.

May I ask what platform you are running on?
I have Davinci Resolve 12.5 (including updates) both on PC and Mac and I think it's useless.
I should say that I love it for 1080 and similar so I guess it's hardware related.

I use this easy-to-use video cutter for Mac named Joyoshare Media Cutter. It offers not only some basic video editing such as cutting, trimming, splitting, joining, but also some advanced features like adding watermarks and subtitles, applying special effects, etc. Very nice. Recommend you to have a try.

I use FCPX (love it) but I wanted to look at Resolve. The Problem is I am running El Capitain (OSX 10.11.6) on my Macs and Resolve needs Sierra.   This is the problem with MAC's every time Apple  change the OS there is no backward compatibility with most Apps  Don't like the new MAC HW so I may end up going to PC's

I like Sony vegas Pro as well. I think this software is good! I also cut there a lot of other, not drone, videos, from different locations, even casinos, restaurants, etc. Since then I like to play 1-casinosenligne.com/ online from laptop or iphone. My next destination is Paris, I want to shoot Effiel Tower from my drone. I hope it'll be epic!

It is really an interesting task to edit your gaming videos and games like and then upload them on YouTube to receive amazing comments from viewers. But the selection of right software tool for this task is definitely a complicated task. Although, you can easily find unlimited software tools online but when we need a professional quality then we have to pick the best tool with feature rich platform. The article below will help you find the best game video editors.
