Is DJI planning to give next officiall update? It looks like they giving one every 2 weeks.

Got the following response from Advexure today.

"Sorry about the slight delay in this response. We had a good call with DJI HQ yesterday evening/early this morning and received from helpful information on production. Unfortunately it’s not the news you may want to hear as there is still uncertainty in exactly when your unit will be able to ship but it definitely helps to provide a bit more insight into the Mavic situation.

Long story short is that the slow fulfillment of the Mavic is going to continue. DJI’s production capacity is very low right now in comparison to the completely overwhelming demand that the Mavic has seen. They are continuing to increase their production capacity but this takes time as they need to ensure high quality is maintained throughout as they scale their production. We will continue to receive sporadic shipments of Mavic units but DJI is currently splitting about 100 Mavic units per day off the production line amongst their worldwide distribution network. This obviously leaves very small allocation numbers each day and they cannot even ship 1 unit to each member of the network each day.

The bottom line is we’re going to be continuing to wait on things. On the plus side, you have a pretty early pre-order so are in a good position. I can guarantee you the people 300 or 400 spots behind you in our pre-order queue would take your spot any day.

We are going to be releasing an official update to ALL pre-order customers by EOD today, much of the information I have provided in this email will be in that update.

I really hope that isn't accurate. That's really depressing.

Right now it looks like DJI wasn't ready and they knew it. I'm getting the impression that they bumped up the product announcement and the release in order to kill enthusiasm for the Gopro Karma.

56 days to ship 34 days worth of orders yet...

Its taken a month to ship maybe 4(?) days worth of orders thus far...

100 a day is a fair estimate looking at the data for previous days shipments on dronehome.io (which is now dead as they - DJI - have "protected" updates with captcha) and scaling up to the likely number from that self-selected group.

My prediction: DJI's next update around 1st week of DEC., if ever. Just keep waiting. Who knows how long, when they are making only 100 a day. We only have ourselves to blame if we are unhappy. We are the ones who sent our money in advance, for a preorder item, halfway around the world (in most cases), without any guarantees....

You are right sans the its our fault part. I participate in pre-orders all of the time and have never once been charged in advanced. Yes they're going to change that in the future, blah blah blah excuses pilot error did you calibrate, but for the time being the fact is they messed up.

Well, if it's not at least shipping by Dec, will cancel order and use that money towards holiday gifts for family and will wait until it's in stores to buy it again.  It would be a shame, since i'm really looking forward to getting it.  But alas.....

Ditto. I leave for Australia at the start of December. It's a strong chance that it will not ship in time, so I will then cancel. Sadly DJI will have made money out of me through the exchange rate (GBP) in the time they have held onto my money.

It has taken a month to ship less than TWO days of orders... DJI have lied to us from the start and continue to do so. I ordered on 29/09/16 and have no assurance that my order will ship this month....

I am now waiting for the next BS DJI communication saying that there have been further delays. The last communication was just to fob us off for another 7 to 8 weeks....

I don't think DJI is as big a company as some think, I saw a few spy shots of there inspire 1 factory and it was very small with a handful of people assembling the inspire. It look more like a small office building rather than a big factory.

I am also sceptical of that daily output number.

Mavic is a high-tech precision instrument, to be sure, but making 100 units a day = just 10 workers assembling 10 Mavics per day, for example. Seems too small. Bring on the robots!

As other reports have suggested in this forum, delays in production are more likely due to some initial technology or quality problems that needed to be corrected.

I can't believe they are making 100 units a day....  I thought they would have production that exceeded 1000-5000 or even more a day.   
If they are selling them at $1000 each (not counting any discounts that retailers get), that's ONLY $100,000 a day.  That is just a drop of water for a company that supposedly is the forefront of drone sales.  

Just a super wild guess - but I can see worldwide demand has got to be over 100,000 to 250,000 units.  Just the tooling for all of the parts have to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.  They got to sell big volumes to pay design costs not to mention for the parts themselves.  100 units a day is not going to cut it...

First come first serve and thats dependent on what region you live in according to DJI. Looks like you guys are both in the USA. Doesn't make any sense at all..

I ordered my Mavic 2016-9-30 directly from DJI and have not yet had any update on the shipping status.  I've been stuck at step 3: "Payment Success" since I placed the order.  DJI claims that they are shipping on a first come first serve basis but that doesn't seem to be the case.  I have chatted with their customer service several times pleading that I need to drone to film an important event, and I need to know when they will ship.  They will not provide a shipping estimate...

This is not right that orders placed after mine are shipping first!

Here here for this post. I am in the exact same situation. Ordered on 30/9 and am now seeing people cancelling their orders and ordering via Amazon/Apple and having them delivered within a week or so. How can this be right?

I have so far restrained from contacting DJI as it appears that everyone gets the same reply which is neither helpful nor reassuring. This is my first experience of ordering via DJI and it hasn't been the best. I was going to order the Inspire 2 when it's announced this evening but will probably get that through a 3rd party!
