It isn't simple, but go back a year (maybe more) here on the forum. On the one hand there will be a lot of posts about what a bunch of idiots there are working for DJI, poor customer service, flyaways, etc.
As you come to present day, you see some of the same complaints (different people, different model drone) but the diff now is that it's obvious DJI is dominating the market.
I began my pursuit yesterday to look into what's involved with Part 107 and flying for money - not that it means I'll actually do it! I called a relatively large dealer and talked a few minutes. In the airplane biz you have things like MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), your craft and engine have to be inspected (and approved) annually and there are schedules for how often your engine must be overhauled - varies from plane to plane.
Many of these numbers (if not most) are just not available, generally because their isn't much product life, although the dealer *did* say that he has customers who are still flying Vision+ and loving it.
In a pre-flight, it's virtually impossible for probably 99%+ to inspect motors, ESCs, etc.. The dealer laughed and opined that most users will have moved on to a more current model before experiencing failure in a craft.
Apparently, when the FAA got really serious about drone laws they got *lots* of comments after publishing their NPRM. There are still some pieces of what has ultimately become Part 107 in court. We're going to have a change in administration in Washing in a couple of months. Many things will probably not change! We've really learned how to perpetuate some of our bureaucracies! |
