I have several friends that use the M600 and they are 100% happy with it. Some have purchased more of them as it's the best platform for them.
Give me your reasons why you think the M600 is a paperweight, what DJI platform can carry a Red.
Ken,
I think if you want to use an X5 or an X5R, then by all means the M600 is absolutely a great drone if you modify a few things (as a DJI manager discussed with me) and upgrade the dampeners ( I tried a homemade fix and it worked ok). So my comments were meant as hyperbole in the sense of small camera formats. However this is a different story when it comes to larger format cameras, DSLR's, AlexMini's, Red's. I understand you disagree with me and that's fine however it's my personal belief that the M600 and the Ronin MX combo, the way I bought it in August of this year (certainly for the first two months) was an absolute waste and still falls below expectation in my opinion---a drone that didn't live up to its hype (iOS firmware didn't work for months/vibration issue not even admitted for months/RoninMx compatibility not nearly as "simple/ SW never actually made legal in US, DJI said they were working on it etc etc)...
I give credit where credit is due and I have recently had the opportunity to join up as the camera pilot (slave) on a Matrice 600 triple redundancy rig (I guess what DJI is calling the "Pro" version now) for a major sporting event in America. Worked well and I praise DJI for working out the kinks in the Matrice600 and implementing them in the "Pro" version. It's a better drone plain and simple then the M600. My opinion is that the Matrice 600 should be discontinued in favor of the Matrice 600 Pro since it's already the same price point.
Feel free to disagree with me, that's totally fine, however as I'm sure you've seen firsthand too, the Matrice600 does not compare in stability when flying large format cameras like the Pro. I'm sorry it just doesn't. This also would be totally fine if it wasn't for the fact that those people who bought the original m600 in order to fly larger cameras were not even given the option to upgrade for a measly US 300 dollars in order to get the much needed pro system that otherwise would cost 2-3K $US. We actually are going to do a comparison video once the weather here calms down using the exact same craft, route, controls, and outside environment before and after the upgrade. The thing is though, your own managers have stated there are known vibration issues reported. As well there are threads and threads on DJI and on the Matrice600 forum (a non DJI forum) that has seen very few regular M600 drones succeed as advertised out of the box and quite a few Pro versions do pretty well. I was obviously being sarcastic about it being a paperweight, but the M600 has issues, and very few of the early shipments worked correctly and should be upgraded by DJI (and adapted to work with the brand new cameras). Again I'm sure we won't agree on this, however many many people have shared my experience and by doing nothing and not setting up a phone support team for the Matrice600 to help consumers fix their issues is a big problem for me. |
