P4P+ has Lightbridge, why no OcuSync?

Hi,

I am just wondering why the Phantom 4 Pro+ (which just got announced) does not have OcuSync and instead has still Lightbridge but with the same specs as OcuSync has.

Why is DJI not using the same technology for the Mavic and Phantom (and Inspire)?
For me that looks like at least one of them is not perfect and both won't get perfect ASAP because DJI has to maintain and fix two separate protocols.

What do you think?

yes i would appreciate more discussion on this. seems like the tech on the p4p is really close to mavic. for a couple dollars more I can get the p4p with more options.

I think they are using the OcuSync on the Inspire 2 strange they wouldn't incorporate it into the P4P

I think this conversation should be had in the P4 forum.

But it is also a Mavic topic: Maybe OcuSync is worse than Lightbridge?
Because both more expensive drones (Inspire 2, P4P+) have another technology than our good old mavic has.

I believe that P4P and Inspire2 uses their Lightbridge 2 technology if not parts of it (http://www.dji.com/lightbridge-2/info#specs).  I'm just adding 2 & 2 together from their marketing info since it uses  both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz while Mavic uses only the very crowded 2.4GHz which may account for some of the complaints of RC failures.

I mentioned this before... cant seem to find my post..

Ocusync (Ocu = eye, sync = refresh rate) is designed for the DJI goggles. Ocustink was designed to minimise latency for a better goggle experience. The goggles need to 60fps minimum for decent user experience and there has to be zero latency for controls and FPV. DJI has sacrificed video quality to achieve zero latency by pixel dumping in the 1080p @60 and 96fps. This is why there is more moire when using 1080p @60fps and 96fps.

The P4Pro on the other hand is all about quality in video and photos and does not care about the 300ms lag in FPV. It doesn't want pixel dumping in the 1 inch sensor just to support some silly goggles and achieve zero latency..

So Lightbridge 2 is definitely better than Ocusync then.

Lightbridge 2 is a whole different ball game.
Lightbridge 2 is 1080p stream used professionally for broad casting.
What you see on the P4P is still Lightbridge 1.5 version B (2.4Ghz+5.8Ghz). There is no mention of it transmitting in 1080p so I assume its still 720p like the previous iterations of Lightbridge found on the P3A/P and P4.

Someone at DJI thought to prioritise the HMD Goggles over the widely used 1080p@60fps for video recording quality and hoped no one would notice. I hope there is some sort of fix for the mavics.

And yes, you would prefer Lightbridge over ocustink as is it does not have to compromise quality for latency by pixel dumping. I would be rather pissed if my 4K@60fps video was all jaggered and looked over-sharpened just to cut a down a few milliseconds on my fpv feed.
